People keep saying this because WWE keeps saying it lol Didnt they do the same thing with Roman about beating the "modern record" that was referring to CM Punk's reign? Or am I tripping? They did that in 2018 with Beastie Boy if I recall correctly. |

What if they have Cody win and then lose it to whoever has the MITB briefcase immediately lol Doubt that is going to happen, Damien Priest has been made to look like the dumbest motherf***er on the roster with his inability to cash in, and forgetting that with Seth injured has a contract to challenge a one legged man to an ass kicking contest that said one legged man cannot turn down.
The only way they can have Priest lose without looking stupid is for him to announce his challenge ahead of time like RVD did. |

The best explanation Cody can give will invoke one of his favorite subjects: racism. He can say Rock gave him a big speech about why he needed to go to war with Roman, but then when Dwayne went out there and gave his "only samoan lives matter" speech full of hardcore racism and periodic tables, Cody had to take a stand. Cody will now end racism by making sure samoans no longer exist. This will also lead the return of everyone's favorite female wrestler, Brandi Rhodes. Brandi vs. Nia Jax will somehow end up being the women's title match at Wrestlemania in a lumberjill match with Rhea and Becky and Bianca as some of the lumberjills. New boom period baby.

Kayfabe wise, I can't figure out why I'm supposed to be rooting for some dummy who gave up his spot he earned like a week earlier. Unless The Rock had Pharaoh held hostage. Pharaoh would bite Rocks pebbles off. Also, Cody’s dumb. He just is. He’s gullible. But that adds to his charm. Stardust. The mustache. Dashing. The Ogogo incident. Y’all… I know you think you’re clever and WWE is dumb when you say these guys don’t have a “record.” But you realize… “2nd longest,” “3rd longest,” etc, are also records. No one else can claim they have the 2nd longest reign except the person who has it. Thats a record. Not THE longest, no, but a record none the less.

Maybe a Bart Simpson joke... but it's real low hanging fruit and unless it's part of a longer string of insults it's not really that much of a gotcha... edit: Though in saying that I guess you could add something like... "you want me to respect you, with that thing on your neck?" >_> |

Really I imagine part of why people don't really dunk on the logo as much anymore is because WWE's done a really good job of centering his branding around it. This is a lot of drama for Roman to win again (and eventually win against the Rock too) People in their 40s going on about how Roman winning is a formality because "he has to beat Hogan's record!", that Cody must suffer because he's been handed everything since he returned (and using Sami's current booking to bash Cody) and coming up with convoluted ways for Roman to win ("what if Rock forces Nick Aldis to turn on Cody and have a layered evil authority against him!?")... instead of just giving people what they want and having Cody win is crazy to see. |
