I don’t understand the notion that Cody winning at EC somehow salvages the storyline. The whole point was finally defeating the final boss Roman on the biggest stage of them all. This is unsalvageable and is typical WWE nonsense of failing to see the forest through the trees and pissing away an entire year of storyline just to generate some social media buzz. I’ll preface this by saying that maybe we should just let it all play out, etc., but upon first blush this really appears to be one of those Vince-esque decisions to book for the most casual of fans or, worse, the potential fan who might tune in to see a movie star and not for the people who actually like, watch and pay for your product. The problem is that the people you’re booking for here might not even exist. Agree completely. But, booking for easily digestible YouTube clips and Facebook posts with a million 🤯🤯🤯 emojis has WWE killing it in live attendance, and that’s apparently the sole metric of how enjoyable a wrestling company is for a lot of the internet these days, so who am I to judge?

Y'all been saying Cody's cooked for two years now, and he comes out hotter and stronger than ever each time. Let's see what he's got cooking before we get to the doom and gloom For the record I love Cody and don't think this'll hurt him with the fans - casual or not. They know what's up. That's entirely different from hurting the story. This shit will now have a very unsatisfying ending or an ending that won't be as good as it should have been because it had to be pigeonholed and complicated.

It's wild. Cody wins, points at Roman, Pat(?) is yelling "what inning are we in now Heyman," and then Cody nopes out 6 days later and is like "naw, The Rock's got this now."

What's worse here honestly?
Rock ending the title reign?
Roman retaining?

In a much worse match on a much lesser PPV. Huh? I was answering the question of if there’s precedent for the Rumble winner getting the shot earlier Yeah, and it was in a much worse match on a much worse PPV Which is kind of the issue here, they've blown it.

Aside from all the awful Cody stuff After this f***ing long of Roman’s dog shit run, The Rock is gonna end it? WTF There is ZERO, I mean 0.000000000000000% chance they'd give the Rock the title. Even with how dumb this is, no company is that stupid. He'll probably injure himself within minutes of stepping between the ropes. That is part of why people are mad, this means that Roman is going to hold the title for even longer.

Apparently Meltzer is saying this was not the plan last Saturday. This was definitely decided after the Rumble. And maybe even after Monday. They wouldn’t have had Cody win the Rumble if this was known ahead of time. And Roman wasn’t advertised for Smackdown until Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Never give this company the benefit of the doubt about anything, ever. If people gave the benefit of the doubt, Bryan would never have main evented WM

Cody's defeated look said it all He got straight up robbed and he should be pissed about it.

What's worse here honestly? Rock ending the title reign? Roman retaining? The latter. Rock ending it instead of Cody is awful, but I just want the title off of Roman.

Aside from all the awful Cody stuff After this f***ing long of Roman’s dog shit run, The Rock is gonna end it? WTF No chance Rock wins the title. Reigns is going over. I actually like Reigns. I’m a casual who doesn’t watch week to week so I’ve never gotten tired of his character. He’s that dude. But man, it’s time. He’s beaten everyone. They can’t stretch this out any further. If Cody is beating him at WM 41, then wow. Whatever the PPV after WM is, just have Cody win it there.

Okay? I was just answering if there was precedent to that. I’m not the one saying they’re going to do it at EC. I’d say it’s more likely it’s done at MITB or Summerslam
