Early in the game and ultimately unfulfilling like Cody's current WrestleMania dreams but what are ya gonna do? 68% disliked at the moment.

Triple H is certainly better at booking than Vince.
Except for tonight.

I'm sure healthy competition still exists in wrestling, and that's what it is. Honestly what are examples of world champions sticking for someone else to beat then in wrestling? The only recent one I can think of is Omega wanting to put over Hangman. Sadly most wrestlers don't have the mindset of wanting to tell the best story possible Becky wanted Shayna to beat her at WM and Vince wouldn't go for it. All I can really think of at the moment.

Yeah, I don't think Cody's going to have to go heel or anything; my point is that they never actually followed through on their promise despite basically ruining the show to build up the moment, and in the end the big top run that finally paid off was disconnected from it and needed an entirely different magic to happen. There's a 'too long' point where if Roman finally loses to Cody when the audience is already numb to this, it's not going to be as big as it was meant to be, and if the fan response to this is bad enough then it's going to absolutely hurt the moment if/when it finally happens. The worst thing Cody/Roman can be now is an "okay, finally" moment like Roman beating Brock finally was. That’s true but I certainly trust Triple H much more to keep it hot enough for the moment Cody does beat Roman than I did with Vince booking. I'm not worried about Cody's heat, but something fresh off a grill and something fresh out of the microwave can both be equally hot, but aren't equally as satisfying.

Sadly most wrestlers don't have the mindset of wanting to tell the best story possible David Arquette never wanted to win the world title at all in the first place, does that count?

If you actually watched under Vince weekly and watch under Hunter weekly (you’ve admitted you don’t), it’s completely night and day. I see people say this and I have no idea where it comes from. Things are slightly more logical and there's better continuity but the weekly shows are still mostly bloated, aimless chores where very little actually happens.

I know what'll distract people from the Vince news, let's put the Rock in the match. Minutes later, the entire internet is still talking about the Vince stuff but NOW you have people upset about the product too. A bumbling farting ballet dance of idiocy that'll just turn more people away from drooling and defending the company as a whole. Astoundingly stupid booking especially for the moment. Okay but isn't this the most WWE thing imaginable? Don't overcome a story by putting on a good show and maybe let6ting your big crowning moment for your top face be the feel-good moment to carry everyone through these dark times. Instead, shit all the f*** over that to let someone in a top position cram themself into a moment, deny everyone the thing that would be good, and end up with everyone madder at you, not rationalizing away the bad feelings by being entertained or given some light in this darkness, but instead being displeased on every front. It's the only move WWE f***ing knows. It is and it reminds me of why I fell in love with AEW in the first place before the booking got murkier and WWE won me back a bit. I don't wanna fall for this shit anymore. I don't have the energy to hope crowds hijack this and turn it into a daniel bryan thing. It was right there and if things are going to keep going like this, I'm too tired for it. Sure you'll get some "moments" and hype shit like NXT along the way but I am tired of being manhandled around back and forth as a fan.

And Rock felt the same about Austin during their 1999-2001 period?

Yeah, Triple H is just as bad as Vince. He learned everything he knows from Vince. He just hasn’t had time to build up the reputation that Vince had, but he’s well on his way. Absolutely not, not even close. If you actually watched under Vince weekly and watch under Hunter weekly (you’ve admitted you don’t), it’s completely night and day. Also I’d be pretty sure that this decision on Rock was above him. I can see that last part being true. Didn’t HHH and Rock resent each other back in the day?

The thing that baffles me even more is if Rock/Roman is indeed for the belt, then we all know Roman is winning. There is no god damn way a 51/52 year old Rock works anything remotely resembling a full WWE schedule. He’d peace out and only appear again like the month before Summerslam to start doing promos about his opponent at that show. Counter Point: Roman isn't working a full time schedule either. nothing stops of having the same thing but with the Rock

That's sad man. He really cares about the kids that see him out there. No kids watched Rock man.

Also I’d be pretty sure that this decision on Rock was above him. I watched under Vince weekly for most of my life and was eventually driven away, and watch enough under Hunter to know it’s more of the same, only with more annoying CGI to distract from the lame booking. What I will, now, absolutely admit is that I just don’t like WWE. Like at all. I was hoping to see one of my all time favorites get his WrestleMania moment, but of course that’s not happening so I’ll bow out of the WWE threads for the time being. I definitely don’t want to be one of those people who only shows up to pile on when things are bad.

Man they're lighting Rock up even on his IG posts. He ain't gonna escape the backlash. I mean if this gets enough backlash that this forces their hand, it’ll be incredible. WWE has done a good job this past year of things happening without the “you like what I tell you to like” tone Vince was doing in 2014, so something like a hijacking hasn’t needed to happen. But this maaaay frizzle their actual fanbase of casuals who they’ve beat over the head with “finish the story” for an entire year. And to just pull the rug from them as a grenade to distract from Vince McCreepyf***? Not gonna go well.

Wonder how pissed 2K's going to be over WWE effectively shitting all over their new game's marketing campaign and making it a complete punchline.

Whatever meaning it picked up in the year has just been shit all over. People are really invested in this story and f***ing with it can be disastrous
