Especially in WWE where they have a habit of making any somewhat lengthy face Title runs boring. I can't think of a babyface title reign in any company since Hogan that was hotter a few months in than it was at the culmination of the chase. I honestly think it's just not possible these days. Cody should hold it up to the Berlin PLE at the longest. I'd quite like to see him trade it back and forth with someone too over a 3-6 month feud. When Cody wins, I'd give him Cena's US Title Open Challenge gimmick. I remember that being a lot of fun with Cena having good defences each week against different opponents. Would work well with Cody and a nice change from Reigns run with the belt being defended each week against a different challenger. Just let Cody go out there each week, have a great match against someone and then eventually someone gets the upset victory. |

The WHC can be the title that anyone can go after in an open challenge, but the wwe championship has too much prestige to not be a once in a while Raw/SD or PPV challenge I would argue that a fighting champion is always better than an absentee champion, especially in an era with two major shows a week and ppv every month. I'll take Bret taking on all comers over a Brock reign where you forget he's even the champion any day. I'm not saying a match every week necessarily, but it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of defences after a month when we're coming out of an era where we got, what 3 defences in a year? |
