Technically this one kind of rides the bubble between the WWE board and Wrest since the bulk of the weekly guest host stuff was in 2009, but they kept regularly doing them until November of 2010 and still did them here and there in the years afterward so figured current board it is. Hell, arguably the most infamous of them with Kathie Lee and Hoda was in 2014.
Speaking of even almost a decade later seriously what in the hell was that.

Bob Barker on RAW was amazing. The Muppets were cool. The rest , yeah not to good.

Jeremy Piven was pretty legit and into the whole wrestling product. He promoted the product with his build up for the Summerfest event.

Hugh Jackman was cool as you could tell he was having fun, Muppets were cool for nostalgia from when I was a kid (and, looking back it's great for the kids in general lol). Barker was fine, nothing against his one.
Shatner and White were fun too.
Wasn't particularly keen on Piven personally but at least he promoted the product with his Summerfest thing, which I was unaware of until this thread.
Kathie Lee and Hoda were not good IMO. Didn't the girl who played Raven in ''That's so Raven'' do one? I remember her one being a car wreck lol.

I appreciated the rare times when they let the host be a full blown heel.

Also the Piven thing was total sarcasm, he kind of blatantly didn't remotely give a shit and he called SummerSlam Summerfest.

Flavor Flav gave us Rappin’ William Regal, so the experiment wasn’t a total failure. This show was also notable for Edge’s announcement that, per the board of directors, guest hosts were no longer allowed to book matches. As well as Randy Orton RKO’ing Meat Loaf, and it being WWE’s final show at the Civic/Mellon Arena. (And I was there!) As bad as the guest hosts were, at least we didn’t get THIS: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/309710

As for Piven, I hate that sarcasm isn't always easy to tell on the boards lol.

One I learned looking up the list is that in 2012 they had Jared Fogle do it, which, 1), I had no idea he appeared in WWE again after the Punk bit, and 2), is probably an extremely poorly aged episode of television.

This is one of those things that'd probably be better handled now, but I'd dare not suggest it if I worked for WWE.
They did a really bad job scouting for these, and I remember Justin Long saying it was harrowing because there was just this wave of hostility coming off the audience, since people there want to watch wrestling, not humor guest stars.

I didn't hate the idea. Some guest hosts worked better than others. The Muppets was great. McGruber, Bob Barker, Jeremy Piven, Seth Green, Mike Tyson, Shatner, undefeated WWE legend Maria Menounos...
I would not mind them going back the the guest host idea, but not as a mandatory thing every week. Just a random thing to mix it up occasionally.

As much as I'd like to say Raw is not as good as it used to be, honestly I'd take today's product a 100 times over the guest host era. Today's Raw bores me a bit, but those days I legitimately hated it. If it weren't for 2011(CM Punk stuff and The Rock returning) I'd probably have given up on WWE.
That's literally how much that 09/10 era of Raw annoyed me.

It made me really irrationally hate Jeremy Piven and Ken Jeong. Though Ken won me back as Senor Chang in Community. And I felt vindicated by Piven turning out to be kind of a piece of shit.
