I always find it interesting to see the reaction to a show when I'm watching it after everyone else did. I'm sure posting here can color one's view of a show. But I thought tonight had a lot going for it: - A clean title change with a face getting a big pop. - A new big time talent (Jay White) making his in-ring debut as a roster member and having a fun match to boot. - Some eye popping stuff w/ Komander and plenty in the main event. - A big advancement angle wise with Takeshita joining the Elite to take on the BCC. - A hot angle taking Cole/Jericho and Britt/Outcasts to another level. - A match playing directly into the next world title match on the next PPV to give us some direction moving forward. White/Komander: Good balance by K, but not a good showing in parts. I'll chalk it up to maybe he's not used to the ring/ropes yet? I get 100% that being safe in doing a spot is the most important thing, but between he and Vikingo it kinda takes me out of the match when they have to pause for like 10 seconds before they do their move. I get why, I don't want anyone getting hurt, it just interrupts the flow of the match. Like...it takes me out of it. I enjoyed how they used Spears "10" gimmick. I'm not terribly excited for this, but the wrestling should be damn good between all 4. I feel like they did it really well in this match though, Komander taking time with his spots was interrupted multiple times by Jay White until he eventually put Jay down long enough that he could properly hit them And when he did hit them, he took less time, and executed them well. I don't think there's an issue with the pause because it shows the heightened risk of the move vs the reward of hitting it, much like PAC with the Black Arrow, you're giving opponents opening with the timing, and that's probably how they're gonna continue to present at least Komander, we'll see how Vikingo does vs Dralistico on Saturday

I'll go with a 7/10. It was a promo/angle heavy show and you know what? For once they are building up the PPV with more than 2 weeks to go so I've got to give them props for that. The main matches and storylines are well set out for the PPV. Now some of that build was a little...meh...hence why the rating ain't higher

Went 8. Thought 4 out of the 5 matches were excellent, especially the main event, people wanted something different for the women's stuff and we got that, loved seeing Arn Anderson, Elite/BCC stuff remains great and Takeshita joining in, as expected, was cool, Wardlow and Hobbs surpassed my expectations for a second time, weird how they have better matches than Joe and Wardlow despite Joe being so great, and it was nice that the crowd was actually behind Wardlow and I like the idea of Luchasaurus (or Christian I guess) as his next challenger.
Couple of things weren't so hot, the Briscoe stuff was confusing and the opening promo was lagging a bit until MJF came out but stuff like that and heels doing a beat down plus a screwy finish in a main event that literally needs a screwy finish to be able to do the match they're planning to do isn't enough to make me give it something like a 5. Jesus Christ the standards are high for AEW, shows that were airing when I stopped watching wrestling in like 2007 must have been like negative 10s.

The BCC/Elite stuff continues to be the most compelling content on the show and I love the fact that the Callis/Takeshita angle is paying off. Beyond that, Switchblade vs Komander was a very solid debut. The Cole/Jericho angle incorporating Britt and the Outcasts did a lot to heat up both feuds, plus stuff like that makes the world of AEW feel more interconnected. Wardlow vs Hobbs was solid but goddamn has the TNT Title fallen from grace. FTR's out of the ring bullshit is making me not care about Mark Briscoe which frankly should not be possible. Didn't like the main event being set up in the opening segment but the match itself was great until the dogshit finish.
Would be a 7 but the TNT Title booking and the main event ending, plus my general "blah" feeling with AEW as a whole these days, drops it down to a 5.

LOL - I woke up thinking it is probably closer to a 2 than a 4 but I'll keep my vote the same.

I gave it a 5. Darby gave one hell of a promo, to me his best promo.
But poor Jungle Boy, That was one of the worst promos I've ever seen. Had no emotion or passion and looked lost as hell out there. He seemed really rattled.
QT running from Arn's invisible gun was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen.
I feel so bad for Hobbs, it's almost like they had him win the title just to get QT back on TV.
Sammy and MJF are a fun pair and wouldn't mind seeing them interacting together as "friends" down the line. I loved their promo with MJF giving Sammy a blank check.
They need to put the title on Darby at the ppv. He is extremely over.

Meh. I'm already bored by the 4 pillars feud, I still don't care about the Outcasts feud, Elite/BCC nicely progressed (even though Callis/Takeshita will probably turn on Omega at some point), Hobbs/Wardlow is just flatter than flat, White/Komander was fun but wouldn't have been out of place on a Rampage or even on a Dark, Spears is still a big nope for me, Jericho/Cole does nothing for me (i'm just tired of everything JAS), and the main event was what it was.
I tend to go through phases with AEW, depending on who is featured and what storylines are prominent, and right now, nothing really clicks for me.

The Outcasts have been beating up on Willow and Skye Blue. Not that impressive They really have not done much to Britt and Hayter. And they have accomplished nothing of note so far. You need to be doing everything possible to put them over as THE threat in the division. And frankly they don’t feel that threatening. There was no reason to have them lose here. They injured Hayter, intended or not you work that they injured the champ into the storyline, then they beat the shit out of Britt in front of her husband Even in loss, I think that helps them a great deal as a threat Nah. They needed Britt to be alone and Jericho’s support to do anything to her. Meanwhile the precedent is now established that Britt can beat them single handidly. After a belt shot and taking Toni’s finisher. They have yet to accomplish anything of note.

5, mostly because I liked White vs Kommander
Haven't been interested in Britt for awhile and I've never been interested in Adam Cole.
I have negative interest in the Outcasts
Hobbs wins the belt in a screwy fashion, gets a TMZ gimmick with QT, and then loses the belt? Who the hell did he piss off? Feels like a waste of a huge talent
Some of it felt more like a RAW to me. Wrestlers talking to each other for 10-15 minutes to set something up for later

7. Overlong beatdown segments suck, that ending was awful, and dear gods do I not want Shawn Spears anywhere near Jay White for his first actual AEW feud. On the bright side, QTV is more than likely getting binned, Komander sticking around pleases me, and please let being included in the BCC/Elite feud be the thing that gets Takeshita to that figurative next level. Jay White shouldn't be taken to the limit in his debut match. Kommander is super impressive (though one of those spots where he kept jumping off the top onto the middle rope was just stupid) but this wasn't the time for it imo I think this was done to head off the people who would've screamed about Switchblade being overhyped if he'd gotten a squash debut, TBH. Those were the problems I had with the show. TK relies too much on the same booking tropes and it shows sometimes especially there are weeks he does dirty finishes after dirty finishes. The post match beatdown trope is starting to head in this territory too.
