This literally causes me pain. A young HBK vs. Savage is a dream match for me. Savage really would have been a great veteran presence during that era. A little earlier than would have been the peak, but they did face off in April 1992. Should be on Peacock too I want to say that they did some house shows around that time too and Macho told him to slow down and not try to do so much. I think that was HBK anyways.

It was silly then, given the New Generation champions (Bret, Nash) were only a few years younger than the Oldies. (Also, Savage could still go in 1995-96. He only really broke down as a top performer in the late 90s. Vince really cut his nose off to spite himself by not using Macho Man as a veteran with credibility to help the next generation.) Plus, he brought back Piper, Warrior, and Roberts around the same time. Kind of hypocritical to call Hogan and Savage out for being old when he brought three of their peers in. Warrior was lucky to have peaked by age 30, because his absence and nostalgia factor masked the fact he was 2 years younger than Bret Hart. I never bought Bret or Shawn as "New Generation", just tag guys that branched out to singles competition. Pretty hard to ignore the facts that Bret was in Wrestlemania 2 and Shawn Michaels in Wrestlemania 5, to suddenly treat them as newer, younger stars.

Sometimes age gets away from Lashley cause his long time away from WWE. Dudes been wrestling since 2005. Yeah but he didn't "leave" wrestling. Lashley went to TNA/Impact and indies, did some MMA so he stayed in shape and was with trainers. Goldberg between 04 to his return did NOTHING but TV show hosting. I doubt he was still training to keep in himself in wrestling shape. The other difference is Goldberg was such a limited wrestler to start with. Lashley was more a well rounded guy who could work and had more he could do to make adjustments. It helps that Lashley didn't have a lot of injuries that would effect him. The shoulder injury last year, was the worst I think he ever had and wasn't out that long. Goldberg had reported shoulder issues. A knee injury that seemed to linger since 99. Plus the arm cut that got nerves.
