ends with the Universal Title and Roman Reigns?
Even though I stopped watching WWE in May 2021, it still makes me sad.

I mean, they haven’t decided anything the f*** to do with the current world title lineage, because they haven’t actually decided what to do with those other titles yet other than Reigns not floating to the other brand for appearances after the draft.

They could retire the Universal Championship and keep the WWF/WWE Title Lineage alive, but I am not hopeful.

The WWE title is their title. The Universal only exists now to keep Roman's record alive. As soon as he drops the WWE title, any century now, the Universal will be retired.

Technically it started with Buddy Rogers. But Bruno did cement it as a big deal.

WWE treats it's title lineages like DC treats continuity, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The way it should play out is Roman holds both belts with both lineages in tact. When Roman eventually loses, a new design is introduced for the title, carrying the WWE title lineage, with the Universal title being retired.

WWE treats it's title lineages like DC treats continuity, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The WHC simultaneously being a continuation of Big Gold while also being its entirely own thing is a great example of this.

Also the World title may or may not be the WCW title and Dolph Ziggler may or may not be a former WWE Champion depending on their mood that day.

We've also got two entirely different and unrelated lineages under the name of WWE Women's Champion. Also between the IC, the US and the North American title are all effectively the same belt for what they cover.

Seems kind of pointless to retire a title that Roman has set a record with.
I mean, is it too hard to have Roman lose one of the belts? It still keeps his aura intact, along with his lengthy reign.
But I guess it's too much of a hassle for Vince.

The one with the most insanely clunky, weird name is the one that will be kept. They'll pretend Reigns has set the record with the WWE title and the WWE title and the Universal title are the same thing, but they are going to literally be calling it The Undisputed Historic Longest-Defended Universal World Heavyweight Championship Presented By WME

I went to Wikipedia to see what the "official" lineage was and I shit you not this is actually on the page for World Heavyweight Championship

I think they will keep the wwe championship lineage but call it the undisputed universal championship. They are sharing videos of the best wwe championship reigns, I’d be very surprised if they got rid of it

Roman Reigns is the reason I haven't watched for about 8 years. I couldn't stand the guy when they were building him up and just thought "f*** it, I can't be arsed watching a product which for the next decade or so is going to be centered around a guy I find absolutely boring"

Eventually Roman's title reign will go so far that the belt will officially become the Multi-Verse Championship. This is how they will market Roman's match with the Rock. Reigns will be wrestling Black Adam.

The way I look at it...
The WWE Championship begins with Buddy Rogers in 1963 and anyone who held it whether it be through WWWF, WWF, or Undisputed Championship. Bruno held it, Backlund held it, Hogan held it, Bret, Austin, Jericho, JBL, Eddie, Cena, Edge, RVD, and even through Jinder, AJ, Brock, Drew, etc.
The Universal Championship began in 2018. It was Finn Balor's belt first and begins there.
The new World Championship I feel may end up trying to be pushed as part of the original World Championship but I find it hard to recognize that as there was never an official resplit of the belts following Orton/Cena in 2013.
My hope would be they just dissolve the Universal but I wouldn't be shocked if the newer belts become pushed more over the original WWE Championship as their way of distinguishing the pre-sale and post-sale era.
Lets be real the industry that Bruno, Backlund, Hulk, Bret, Austin, Rock and Cena ruled isn't the same one now or going forward.
