The reason their Powerpoint Presentation failed is they didn't have Drew Gulak helm it.

If it weren't real people's livelihoods at stake it would be comical how absurdly f***ing bad the AMPTP is at this. We could fork over a fraction over a fraction of the money we bring in every year... OR we could engage in endless mustache twirling supervillainy designed only to berate people for daring to try to ask literally anything of us. It's f***ing infuriating how shitty these rich assholes are. They're like the villain company in a movie or TV show that are stereotypically selfish to a way too high level. Except this is in real life and hundreds of real people are suffering because of wealthy shitheads who don't give a f***. This whole mess is a sad reminder of how horrible humanity can be.

Yeah, sounds great, Carol, besides the fact that we know now that’s not happened.

From that Variety article:
I mean, this alone should be a deal breaker in that AMPTP offer. So they'll give the WGA the figures, but will still not pay them by the figures until some time in the future that they're not going to commit to and will probably result in another argument and strike.

It’s a ludicrous thing to expect them to be happy with. “Yes, we’re going to tell you how many people are watching but expecting your piece of the pie from that? That’s a step too far, brother. Especially since if we do, we won’t have enough time to screw you over for the next three years from not paying!”

This parody account has been a joy during the strike but this might be their magnum opus.

It's sad that the blatant parody account is a more effective messenger than the real deal and all their propaganda press outlets.

Tangentially related, EA has forced BioWare to lay off 50 senior staff.
But don't you worry...

Kinda misleading - That can not be Apple's streaming revenue because there is no way that they make the most of any streaming platform.
The rest of the company should not be subsidizing the studios any more than they already are, especially when some of their revenue is made off things that are tantamount to slave labor. How about putting that money to improving those work environments first.

Studio execs: "That's the problem, that's too much. Anything above zero is basically throwing us out onto the street."

Look, Iger's dog's second yacht needs a fifth garage, compromises must be made.

Studios delaying movies rather than just paying workers seems to be their own counter argument to “We have a lot of stuff backlogged, trust us!” that they harped on about to shareholders earlier in the month.

I can see why Netflix was holding out. This company doesn't have anything else to fall back on, and paying residues will be less beneficial to their bottom line.

Does feel incredibly likely this is going to be the longest WGA strike in history. The longest one as it stands was in 1988 at 154 days and as things are now this one is at 114 days with no sign of the studios getting remotely serious about actually trying to work something out any time for the foreseeable future. This one's already outlasted the 2007-08 strike so I don't know why the studios still seem so convinced that those same tactics will work again.
