How? Who has ever decided to watch a film because the star gave an interview on the red carpet or to some paywalled entertainment site?
I can't see WAG or SAG-AFTRA members lining up to talk to Penske Media publications once this is over. Enjoy being a press release network, you've earned it.

Well the writers are starting to get rest less here, only a matter of time till a deal is done. Wouldn't be surprise if by the end of August at least with the writers.

Once again, nasty work by the trades Someone tell the studios there's an easy fix to this and it's something entirely in their power.

It's not just that, it's getting actors on late night talk shows, morning shows etc so that people know about the movies. Sure, the only people checking THR for interviews are people who already know about movies, but someone watching morning TV will pay more attention to an actor being interviewed on the show (or even a pretaped red carpet interview) than a trailer sandwiched between other ads they're ignoring.

The new TMNT's already set to turn a profit by next weekend and a sequel and a show have already been greenlit so it's hard to feel too broken up about it.

Only a matter of time before an AI goes to court to protect its creative works.

So what they're saying is that actors are a big part of a movie's promotion, contribute to around 15% of a movie's box office from that alone and should be respected more, thus better pay and treatment. You couldn't write something that demanded the Regina George meme better, to be honest.

If you're picking up on how the trade press is consistently trying to undermine the unions involved in this strike, then you'll never guess how this tends to go in other industries, too...

Just wondering, can’t go 50 pages to find the answer, but
How does this affect game shows?
I know they can make reality shows. Most actors can’t even do their podcasts. People hve said Dwayne Johnson probably wouldn’t do anything with wwe (so John cena on raw is a bit head scratching). So I was wondering how a game should fall Under these rules? They’re not scripted (at least beyond what the hosts are required to say), but for sure drew Carey and Wayne Brady and Steve Harvey are Sag actors

Mayim Bialik (who is a member of both WGA and SAG) chose to not work the final week's taping of the last season of Jeopardy, for example. Any shows that do use WGA writers will either have to suspend production or use nonunion writers – which wouldn't be considered scabbing as many game shows use a mix of union and nonunion writers. Similarly, there's nothing preventing Rock, Cena, or any actor appearing in WWE as WWE is a nonunion production. Many WWE performers and writers take side-gigs in movies and other TV shows just to qualify for their union cards.

As far as SAG goes, game shows along with soap operas and talk shows are covered under the Network TV deal and not being struck against. WGA is another story. A lot of game shows use WGA writers.

The studios are not serious Got the full context on what I was quoting and man, if I were the studios being represented, I’d be wondering what the AMPTP was on because going from an agreed to blackout on media coverage to whatever the f*** this is feels like a mixed message strategy to end the strike.

Inviting the WGA in for a PowerPoint presentation about how good the deal you’re proposing and not for any negotiations around that deal is a choice.

If it weren't real people's livelihoods at stake it would be comical how absurdly f***ing bad the AMPTP is at this. We could fork over a fraction over a fraction of the money we bring in every year... OR we could engage in endless mustache twirling supervillainy designed only to berate people for daring to try to ask literally anything of us.

They literally don't want to give up a single extra cent to the people who provide them with the means with which they make literally billions of dollars, and are actively trying to find a way to pay out less while acting like the people they're bleeding dry are in the wrong for not wanting to be bled dry. Utter ghouls.
