Just as a bit of a follow up from this… Are the rules silly? Yeah, a bit but I can get the logic in that you don’t want to give them a free promo but “Get back to the table?” The studios left the table because they threw a strop about sharing any kind of royalties with actors. Tell them to get back to the table because it’s not like the actors can negotiate with themselves, can they?! Serious question, has she been on the picket lines or speaking to press about why actors deserve a fair contract? If she hasn't, I'm a need her to redirect her energy elsewhere Yes, she has indeed picketed quite a bit.

It’s already exceeded the last strike and every other actor’s strike ever and there isn’t really a precedence outside of the recent Writer’s one so it’s new territory. And it is the studio’s fault and the fact they’re trying to weather a storm that’s losing billions and costing jobs and income in the city of Los Angeles because nothing’s happening project wise. All this because the studios can’t share or not guarantee that they won’t be replaced by computers, basically.

I get it because the Halloween stuff seems pretty petty on the surface. It's not like it's explicitly promoting struck work or doing studio panels at cons. Like having fun trick-or-treating with your family or going to a Halloween party shouldn't be equivalent to scabbing or crossing a picket line.

Logically, I agree with you and do agree it feels a bit too silly. On the other hand, considering the attempts at dissention the trades have tried to do, I can absolutely see an "expose" of celebrities wearing costumes and "Could it being seen as promoting work?!" being published in Variety on Halloween Tuesday.

It seems the studios are pissed they lost to the writers and are going to take this out on the actors.

It seems the studios are pissed they lost to the writers and are going to take this out on the actors. I think it’s less that and more that they don’t want to give more away then they need to. The issue then comes that delaying this more basically tells company shareholders to not expect any new productions being made until mid 2024 at the earliest because we’d rather waste money letting writers write scripts for as long as we allow them to and put an entire city out of work. Like, the basis of the deals, allegedly, is the same sort of framework as the WGA one with some tweaks so it’s more them going “Hey, they were ecstatic about this, this’ll be good for you lot too” without the actual stuff SAG are really concerned about.

Obviously, take this with a grain of salt because trades but what this is basically saying is...
"We're going to give you a bonus for being on the most watched shows list...that we won't tell you if it's actually true or not even if we brag as such about it in the media so we could easily not give you anything in reality."

Very curious as to the mental math required to believe people who started striking over 100 days ago were somehow also born yesterday.

EDIT: Also basically makes the “rumor” of the studios stopping negotiations until January if it wasn’t sorted by Thursday total bunk. Again.

Other thing I forgot to add, 3,600+ members of the guild signed an open letter basically saying they’d rather strike than accept a bad deal. www.membersinsolidarity.org/

Deadline seems to think that we might be on the final stretch towards a deal but, again, trades so take it with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Good. I know it might be a struggle for the working actor... but they need to stay the course and get a good deal for them! Feel like this is a deal they have to get 1000% right since an opportunity like this may never arise again And that happened before for sure when it came to VHS royalties which had long term effects before they figured it out for DVDs and Blu Rays. Arguably this has long term implications for people working in the industry, even writers who just got a big improvement.
