They have been better with it as of late but yeah there's this sense of "WCW always sucked, we've always ruled!", as if WWF/E didn't have stupid stuff going on in the 90s as well and that there was no wrong during the Attitude Era.
It sucks because now we got a generation of younger fans that are being told WCW was a joke and now believe it because they weren't around to watch how good WCW was at one point. “History Is Written by the Victors”.

The way WWE simultaneously buries and profits off of WCW while absolutely making a lot of their same mistakes and putting on stuff just as bad as the things they decide encompass the whole of WCW's legacy (only the worst and silliest parts) really comes off in A Way. How WWE spent years lowballing Sting, he finally came to WWE and he drew so well they thought "Oh we should give Goldberg a nostalgia run maybe WCW and draw money". Which is maybe even more insane. WWWE management actually convinced themselves WCW had no value and sucked. Just incredible stuff.

I wish they would start admitting that ECW sucked You know you love Shane Douglas' 40 min. classics as TV Champion. Hey, when that Pitbull #2 match finally ends, you'll change your tune, I'm sure.

ECW certainly had its issues, especially at the end. It was a "you had to be there" thing aside from the more standout matches.
It was underground, it was dangerous, it was cool. There was such an energy about it. It was the wrestling show you didn't want your mom coming in and catching you watching.
And now it's easy to access wrestling from around the world. Back then it was WWF or WCW. Other than that you either had to get into tape trading, or you had this bloody little wrestling show that came on at late hours on what might as well have been local access channels.

HHH and his respect for the NWA kinda clearly doesn't feel that way, I doubt he'd say it publicly though.

Yeah, it's comparable to when ascetics are copied in movies like Grindhouse or VHS effects and stuff like that. It's been overdone by everyone but for every one entity that gets what made that thing good, there are copycats that get the wrong idea and don't have much substance to it. Basically the difference between ECW One Night Stands 05 and 06. 05 was a send off to ECW and what made it what it was, 06 was (even with a couple of good matches) what happened if ECW was founded by the heads of a focus testing group that still think kids say "Radical, dude!" to each other.

The refusal of some people to allow ECW nostalgia to die is awful and embarrassing. It was a product of its era and a lot of it has aged terribly. But it's also one of the most important things to happen to wrestling in the past thirty years, and almost every major promotion in the Anglosphere to have existed in that period owes something to it. I would echo the people who said you had to be there, and to understand just how shit wrestling was in the mid-nineties before ECW started to garner attention and scare people.
As for WCW, the time for WWE to start admitting that it was good was twenty years ago when it started bringing in all the talent that had got over there.

I like how Rey Mysterio is the same size as Hulk Hogan.
