I know I said in my previous post in this thread that I couldn’t watch it back, but I did randomly at the weekend watch the raw after MITB, where Becky announces she’s pregnant and that Asuka is the new champion. Asuka reaction is amazing, because if they told her what was happening then she deserves an Oscar, and if she didn’t it’s an even warmer moment of her being genuinely happy for Becky.

I'll never forget the first ever Thunderdome where they didn't know how to screen properly so viewers consisted of a picture of Chris Benoit and I believe a Klansman...

Don't forget that WWE moved the setup to The Tropicana Field in December 2020 and stayed in the second worst MLB venue until the 2nd of April. Can't imagine too many wrestlers wanting to work in that monstrosity.

That first Smackdown with Triple H on commentary was so surreal and weird. And yet at the time I really appreciated it for the sense of normalcy it provided in a very scary, uncertain time.
Though man, what a sloppy shop </Taz> the PC was in those days. I think it was pretty telling that once the main roster moved to the Thunderdome setup there were virtually zero outbreaks, even minor ones, of COVID among the roster. Yet it kept happening in the PC.

What was real surreal was when they did the after-show (RAW Talk, I think?), and they still had the thunderdome video screens on, but in the background.

One thing I will say is the Thunderdome day had moments that wouldn't work with a crowd present. I know the cinematic matches were mentioned, but would that Zombie Lumberjack match have worked with a crowd with the ominous music? I think what affected it negatively was the piped-in crowd noise. Then you have the parts with Alexa Bliss appearing on the screens during that battle royal involving Randy Orton or when Bayley laughed on the screens during a Bianca Belair match. Those would work on regular TV shows or movies, but not wrestling. It's like how the Warrior appearing on Hogan's mirror. That works in a movie or a TV show, but when the commentators talked about it but Eric Bischoff said he couldn't see anything, it showed that it didn't work in wrestling.

I thing I liked about the show as a show was heels were heels, faces were faces and we can have clean matches without smark crowds being dicks

I haven’t looked back yet at these weird shows. Maybe in a couple of years at the five year mark I’ll look back at this unusual era.

I remember there was that one girl who was almost always in the crowd who looked like Billie Kay. She was purdy.
