Recently, I went on Paramount+ and started watching old B&BH episodes because there were some that I wanted to see again. It also led me to watching "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America," which still holds up, in my opinion. I also saw that there were episodes from the 2011 revival. I recall enjoying them back in then despite wondering how it would do in the early-2010s compared to the 1990s. I also watched episodes from the new show and I still found them funny.
The question on my mind is could the 2011 revival have succeeded at all? MTV was a lot different from the mid-2000s onward and B&BH had little place on a channel like that anymore. I think if it had gone to Comedy Central, it would have done better. Being that MTV and Comedy Central are owned by Viacom, it wouldn't have been an issue to have them do commentary on "Jersey Shore" or anything like that.
What do you think?

B&B hammering Jersey Shore was hilarious! I think it could've worked and was disappointed it didn't keep going.

By all accounts it was doing well enough, just that MTV balked on continuing it.
The new series has been proof that there's always a staying power for these characters.

Yeah, didn’t the 2011 run fall victim to the dreaded “doesn’t fit with our network vision” junk? Hell, did they even officially cancel it? Or did they just keep it in limbo for ages?

Mike Judge deserves a ton of credit for being able to evolve not only the show, but characters that have been called "one note" since the show began, and keep it fresh and relevant across 3 decades now.

Yeah, didn’t the 2011 run fall victim to the dreaded “doesn’t fit with our network vision” junk? To a large extent, yeah. Looking at it purely from a ratings perspective, the ratings were respectable enough as I recall—just not in MTV’s target demo. Shifting it over to Comedy Central as agent817 suggested, even with the same ratings, might have been enough to save it.

The 2011 revival "fail" because it didn't fit into the "16 and pregnant/teen mom" demographic that Mtv was going after at the time.

Sorta-limbo since Mike tried to move it to Comedy Central but it wouldn't happen, until the Paramount+ episodes started to air there
