I’d say 2015, when he won the US title and the Shield guys started becoming the main focus of the show

Probably when he got drafted to Smackdown in 2016. Yea he won the title one more time but it lasted a month.

At the time I didn't realize it straight away but in hindsight I'd say dropping the US title to Del Rio at Hell in a Cell 2015. Even if he didn't main event every PPV anymore he was still clearly the biggest star on the shows each week. That match though was the end of him as a full-timer and he'd get busier and busier with movies. Then the next month Roman won his first world title to solidify if it hadn't been already that he was the new top guy who shows would be built around.

I'd say it starts with the sale to Endeavor, especially since he's said he's done. Before the he was always in the background, a guy that was there if called upon, I don't see that now.

Have to go with when Alberto beat him with zero buildup or fanfare.
That put Cena at a "what now?" point that we never truly got an answer to.

Probably when he got drafted to Smackdown in 2016. That's my thought. The draft happens and it's like "Yeah, Smackdown got Dean and AJ! Heath and Becky, Yaaasss! Shane, Bryan and Rene! Woooo! Oh, Cena and Orton are here, too. Neat."

When Cena missed WrestleMania 32, it felt like a new era to me.

In reality, it was probably before this, but when I fully realized Cena's era was "done" was when he lost to Nakamura on a random episode of Smackdown. Nakamura was really popular at that time. Seeing Cena just lose clean to face on regular TV match was a moment where I knew Cena wouldn't be the focus of the company anymore. (Dumb old me thought they were going to capitalize on Shinsuke's popularity and make him the main guy lol..I was stupid back then)

Henceforth, this WWE era is now known as the "Clash's dead body era"
