ITT we post things that had BAD cover artwork (been a while since we’ve had a thread like this AFAIK). Inspired by this one: Aesthetically it might not be the worst cover, but it unintentionally played a part in me not buying it. It was discounted during an Arrow sale along with dozens and dozens of other items. I had no idea it was a box set of 1970’s Japanese sexploitation films. If you slow down and read the titles it’s easy enough to figure out. But when you’re scrolling through a bunch of titles it doesn’t jump out at you as it should. I only found out what it really was months later AKA yesterday when seeing a much better DVD cover of one of the films in the set. At a glance that cover just looks like some hippie bullshit which I’m less inclined to buy. I already have enough hippie bullshit.

I never get over this one. I understand they wanted to sell a classic to a new, young audience, and while that generally isn't a bad idea, the execution in this case is. You have bare-chested, muscular Dante holding a scythe in a flood of ... zombies? Demons? Lost souls? As a teenage gamer the prospect of reading an old Longfellow translation of the Divine Commedy when I expected brutal action would not make me a fan. Do readers even get the whole Commedy or is it just the Inferno?

I didn’t need the Giant Evil Bewildered Space Baby to start talking about Dostoevsky and Kropotkin or whoever two thirds into the story, I just wanted to keep seeing it smash up cities and burn buildings with his psychic destruction waves. What was the point of that highbrow mumbo jumbo? It didn’t add to the story of the survivors trying to survive the baby apocalypse.

What is this? The China Syndrome meets King Dinosaur? Awful, especially compared to the tasteful restraint of Billy and Cloneasaurus:

You can include almost every comic book movie put out in the MCU/DCEU era, but amongst the worst: Uninspired copy-paste design and overly busy, to the point where three characters appear in costume and out. Dull, drab, and lifeless, much like most of the four hour runtime.

Mary Shelley: "Hey Mr. Monster...you feelin' 'alive' right now?" With that line of dialogue I’m imagining Frankenstein as a 1990’s erotic thriller. The trailer shows Mary Shelley groping him like on the book cover. “Hey Mr. Monster…you feel in’ ‘alive’, I can make you feel ‘alive’” leading to Mary sliding her hand up the monster’s quivering leg as “Sadeness Part 1” by Enigma plays.

Nuff said. I'm confused. This is a thread about bad cover artwork.

Nuff said. Are the rewards moonshine and a deer head mounted on the banjo player's wall?
