What was the latest you ever saw anything on tape, or even dvd (via bootleg).
I was just thinking about the missing content that people have seen but can’t find, and all the stuff that never made the transition from physical media to streaming in general. I wonder if there’s someone out there who still recording this stuff and has copies of things the bigger companies would tried to hide or whitewash. Especially since YouTube is going to start deleting dead channels.
Is someone out there collecting everything, either taking them off tv, or downloading everything off of YouTube and actively archiving them somewhere?

It still goes on in many forms. As far as bootleg DVDs go, I see them at most small time indy shows.

I put up what I can on youtube, I have captured some stuff. But WWE is easily one of THE biggest pains in the asses with copyright stuff, even commercial breaks. Somehow this exploded in the past week or so since I keep on getting comments. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gic9JLsR8kQTho that was a tape my Dad recorded. Anyways, tape trading I recall until like the late 2000s at most. Flea markets you can maybe find some stuff still (Esp bootleg dvds)

All American Wrestling is rare enough, but with commercials intact?! Thanks for the upload.

It just started to massively die out in the early YouTube days. I remember Jamie Gibson (aka Jamie Noble) was one of the last guys people were fairly excited about. And even then, it was mainly ROH fans who didn't live in a market where ROH was on TV

Tape Trading died out in about 2006.When dvd burners became very cheap. DVD trading and selling lasted until maybe the last 3 years.
You will still see indie talent selling DVD-rs of their matches. We just helped a local guy get copies made of his first dvd. 2 Hours of his stuff. He asks 10 a copy, and they come in cases with covers.
As far as trading... there is still footage that is out there that isnt on YT or whatever. And to get it either you gotta know the right people or pay for a link to the direct download. There is Google Drives,One Drives,Dropbox and all that kind of stuff packed full of rareer footage.

pretty much before there were all the streaming services. DVD's or shared downloads were common all the way up until the launching of most streaming services honestly. The last leg of bootleg dvds I have are from probably 2015.

Someone posted a commercial to promote your upcoming show and you come after us legally? What the hell man?

I remember recording all like 2000-2003 PPVs on VHS and would share them with my friends.
If you used long play you could usually get around 8 hours and 15 minutes on a single VHS tape and I would always get greedy and try to fit 3 PPVs on the one tape. So I’d hope the shows never went the full 3 hours or else the tape would run out around the beginning of the main event of the 3rd month’s show.

I remember when the 8 hour VHS tapes came out, it was a big deal.

I cannot speak about tape trading from two/three decades as I was still a kid with no Internet in my house. However, I was in a tape trading Discord server back in 2020. I joined by morbid curiosity. Obviously, I am no collector, so I didn't have nothing to offer, I was mostly there for chatting. Of course, everything was digital trading so to speak.
After some issues with the owner of the server, me and other people created another server. I left that server earlier this year because of personal differences.

One friend borrowed my VHS recording of WM24 and tried to watch it on their massive 90" TV, found it unwatchable. Whereas I was rocking a CRT in my bedroom until 2015.

I think the torrent sites superseded the trading of physical media in most cases. I actually have been seeing more VHS stuff on eBay in recent years among wrestling and sports. Auctions like "Here are five blank tapes for you to buy and record over. By pure coincidence, they happen to have copies of the 1989 WWF Saturday Night's Main Event shows with commercials. Please record over it." I have found numerous NFL games I have been searching for for years this way.

I bought access last year to a Google Drive that has a bunch of WWF stuff. Worth the £10 I paid, for sure

Worth throwing the guy 20 bucks for lifetime access.. I was a huge tape trader. When all the luchadors in ECW/WCW were getting attention I had access to Galavision. So would record that every week and trade copies for other stuff I wanted. Then in 2005 buddy offered to transfer all my VHS tapes to DVD-rs. If I let him keep the tapes. Did that and all I had left was some Wrestling on Betamax. Now those DVD-rs sit on a spindle cause I got pretty much all that now ripped on the household media server.

Yep
who was the guy with the google drive full of AJPW and NOAH? Real something Hero maybe....
He would link whoever to it. Jusst asked you only download 2 matches a day. Then you had DITCH with his web site full of rarer puro.
Heard of fans in areas that have crap internet speeds trading flash drives of footage.
