One of the greatest novelists in American history, a distinct voice in a generation that largely prized the exact opposite of his style. Responsible for Nick Cave's entire career.

Of his books, I've only read Blood Meridian, which is....an intense experience. Dude undeniably left his mark. Rest in peace.

One of the most unique writers to ever live. The white whale that is Hollywood trying to adapt Blood Meridian has gotten even harder to capture now because the only screenwriter I trusted to do justice to it in script form was Cormac McCarthy himself.

I’ve read most of his stuff so I can say I was most definitely not a fan, but we for sure lost a literary giant today.

Oh, wtf, no.😢 He "just" released his final two novels.
I'm a late-blooming reader. During my childhood and youth I was a miserable student, not interested in anything that smelled of education. Literature was not imparted to me from any side and I always managed to avoid even the reading that I should have done in school. As an adolescent, I had one of the typical early life crises that adolescents have. But I knew no remedy for it. Until I discovered literature through "The Road". So at the tender age of 20, I went to a bookstore for the first time to buy a book. Since then, I've studied literature and my apartment is plastered with books. Thank you, Cormac.😢
