Wade still better than you I do think people forget how good Pierce was. He was putting up basically Kobe numbers for years, and coming up short. I loved those teams though. I loved Toine even though he was the epitome of a chucker, I loved Walter McCarty who seemed like he was 40 when he was 24, Tony Delk. But they always came up short, and it wasn't really Pierce's fault. Like Garnett, he took them as far as he could. But Wade and KG are better than Truth, quite clearly. Paul made one 2nd team All-NBA and no 1st teams, never got any type of traction in MVP voting. Basically Ant Edwards now vs like a Dame or Tatum. Very good, but not the next level.

Paul Pierce earned his nickname The Truth. He was cold in his prime but he was never THE GUY that you could win with. He needed closer to his level and while KG was coming out his prime when he got traded, he was arguably still better than Pierce at that stage but KG took pride in his defense and didn't mind giving up shots. For me, Wade is Top 3 SG of all time. Pierce should be secure in his legacy. He is one of the greatest players on one of the most infamous teams in any sport the Boston Celtics. But Pierce believes highly in himself (as he should as a HOF player) but that man been looking for vindication for years and just be saying shit. Him saying that about Wade is forgetting why Wade became Flash in the first place when he took over to win his first chip with a Shaq who was coming out his prime

Only just learned of this whole situation. Wishing he and his family all the best and I'm infuriated that the reason I learned of it was absolute f***ing ghouls turning it into an excuse to bitch about vaccines.

As someone old enough to remember Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers, 'collapsed on the court' is not a phone call you would want to get about your child.
Just glad he seems to be out of ICU, but the anti-vax imbeciles will howl as usual.

Wade still better than you Pierce is weird that he is underrated in that he was one of the best players in his period that no one refers to that way, but also such a doofus that he makes you want to forget him.

$304M over 5 years for Jaylen Brown I know this is a massive overpay but I'd rather the Celtics do this than trade him for 50 cents on the dollar or let him walk. 26 year old All-NBA Forwards don't grow on trees. In a couple of years with Jaylen, KP and Tatum's upcoming extension the Celtics could face a roster crunch and would have to make a choice but for now they're going all in as they should. And who knows, with the way the salary cap keeps going up maybe this contract won't be so big in a couple of years.

Awful news about Bronny. Glad he's recovering, though.

Having lost a friend in junior high that collapsed with a heart attack during warmup stretches, these events always bring back strong memories. It sounds odd to say but it's the truth: it's really lucky when this stuff happens in a place full of trainers/medical staff.

Jaylen Brown is good but he isn’t close to “Highest NBA salary ever” good. Boston’s ceiling is hard-capped now. They’re not winning it all.

Boston wasn't going to win it all the second they kept him no matter what they paid. I feel like he's a classic Regular Season star. He does not impress in the playoffs. Sure, he'll have a great game here or there. But so do a lot of guys that ain't getting max pay. Celtics have the talent to win it all but don't have the leadership or consistency to do it. Kinda like the Suns.

Yeah, the worst look today was Charly Caruso/Arnolt who came out today as anti-vaccine. And boy, people like SRS called her out on it. She's exactly the opposite of the person she was in WWE.

Terribly scary news for Bronny. Glad he's out of the ICU. That's all that LeBron was playing for anymore, that might be it for him. But that's small potatoes rn.
On the twitter reaction, of course it was. Those people are gullible morons waiting to be sold some stupid tinfoil hat theory. The main reason there hasn't been more cardiac arrests in sports is because so many heart issues get uncovered in the draft process these days. It's so less newsworthy when a prospect has to retire or have a procedure than when someone has a cardiac event. Which is why so many of the people that have these serious issues either A) haven't gone through the draft process yet or B) went through it a long time ago. Just before the pandemic, Jay Bouwmeester's heart stopped on the Blues bench and nobody came out with any dipshit theories as to why it happened. Because it wasn't a talking point of Twitter's versions of Jim Cornette; people who will make inflammatory statements to pander for money.

That's what people seem to be missing about this transaction. Everyone's getting hung up on the whole "biggest contract in NBA history" narrative, but the choice for Boston was either overpay for Jaylen Brown and keep him happy, or don't sign the extension and you have a player who is probably even more unhappy considering he's been in trade rumors for the better part of the last two off-seasons, and when he finally issues a trade demand, you're stuck in a situation like what we're seeing with the Blazers and Damian Lillard - sending a borderline superstar away for pennies on the dollar. Also, as an aside, with the salary cap projected to jump dramatically in the 2025 off-season, we're probably not too far from $60 to $70 million annually being the going rate for a 1 or 1A on a championship contender. Hell, we're probably a few years away from the first $100 million a year player.
