I did get a good laugh out of the ESPN/ABC intro for Sunday's Stadium Series game being all about how cool and great New Jersey is.
...narrated by a New York Giants quarterback
...promoting a game being played by two New York teams.
But hey, the stadium's in New Jersey, right?!

But hey, the stadium's in New Jersey, right?! Imo, this a gripe that is so blown out of proportion. The Meadowlands is less than a stone's throw away from Manhattan. The NYC connection is warranted. It's not like they are playing in Atlantic City.

Eli (I assume it was Eli narrating?) also lives in New Jersey and played in the Meadowlands for his entire career. It's a weird thing to talk about in a game between teams based in Manhattan and Elmont, NY. But it's not like they'd talk about how great Foxborough, MA or Landover, MD are instead of Boston or DC.
It was a lot more annoying with Flyers vs Devils because the Devils are very much a proudly New Jersey team. And neither team's fanbase wanted to hear about Mark Messier and his f***ing guarantee.

It was Tommy DeVito, so at least someone who's actually from New Jersey. All of this brings me back to the Giants and Jets adopting logos in the 80s-90s that didn't have "NY" featured on them, and how the old Giants Stadium would have a big logo with the shape of New Jersey on it back then...shit, I actually remember people who had sweaters that said "New Jersey Giants" on them from back then. The main part that sucks when they do the whole "NY/NJ" thing is that it's typically a way to pretend that Jersey doesn't exist at all. Historically, New Jersey kind of brought it on itself: colonial and early state NJ passed many laws that severely limited our cities in favor of rural towns, and 20th century NJ did the same to the benefit of the suburbs - Newark, our biggest city, is geographically tiny because of years and years of chipping away different parts of it to create new towns. Seriously, New Jersey is a patchwork of way, way too many townships, so it's tougher to have a singular urban cultural center, especially when our biggest cities (Newark, Jersey City, etc.) are within sight of Manhattan.

Disappointing ending in Boston but that was an exciting shootout to end the game. They could do nothing against Swayman it seems.

On Sunday I'm heading down to Columbus (a few hours from where I live) to see the Rangers and Blue Jackets. It'll be my first live NHL game and the Rangers are the last of my favorite teams I need to see live (saw the Nationals and Nets a ton and just went to see the Jets two months ago).
My niece (she's only a year younger than me) got my brother tickets for Christmas and then I got one a row in front of them so we could all be together. Got a hotel for the night, gonna get some good food, and I'm just all around excited.

And the Rangers should crush them.

A twisted part of me almost doesn't want the Devils to win tomorrow; this season's been such utter chaos that I'd almost just accept a loss and write off this year as lost to injuries, an inexperienced defensive corps, and goaltending that took too long to get remotely on track.
But if they win, against a team directly in front of them in the playoff race, no less, I'd be all on my Michael Corleone "THEY PULL ME BACK IN" bullshit, and I'm not sure I can take much more heartache.

Wings beat the Caps 8-3! 6 wins in a row. They're going to be a tough matchup for any team in the playoffs.

How do you Devil's fans feel about Frank The Tank Fleming of barstool? As a Mets fan I kinda love him, but at a recent game there was a Shut Up Frank chant and he took it pretty hard.

Got some defense! Been in talks for a bit now but that shellacking in Denver must have been the last straw. Not a bad deal either!
