This is awesome. Even though I'm an Islanders fan, I think I might get me a Whalers jersey. They've worn the Whalers shit before and the Cooperalls stuff was done by Philly, in warm ups a couple seasons ago, so it's not exactly new ground. If they wear the Cooperalls during a game, they at least have a novelty. |

Due to the incident this past weekend, Milan Lucic is legally barred from abusing his wife.
No, I’m serious, that was actually in the news article today after his arraignment. “As condition of his bail, Lucic was prohibited from abusing the alleged victim and from consuming alcohol.”
I’m not trying to make light of the situation, that just struck me as such an odd condition to tack on. “Don’t commit the crime again that you’re currently accused of committing” kinda goes without saying I feel.

Devils announce they're going to put Sergei "Sarge" Brylin in the team's ring of honor, which I guess is essentially going to work as the team's hall of fame.
Well deserved: Sarge is one of five Devils who were around for all three Stanley Cup wins, but the other four (Stevens, Daneyko, Niedermayer, Brodeur) have all had their numbers retired and three of them are Hall of Famers, while Brylin was more of a role player. Dude's deserved an honor, and now he's also with the team as a coach, so why not?
The only other member of that "ring" right now is John McMullen, the guy who brought the Devils to Jersey from Colorado, and he has a big plaque on the wall of the upper deck of the arena; don't know if that's what they're going to give Brylin, but will be interested to see. Always figured that they were waiting to induct Lou Lamoriello, first, but Lou's A - never going to retire, and B - probably going to outlive everyone alive right now, so that might take awhile.

Flower has made a lot of money and has a backbone. Good for him to stick it to the league.
Also, hilarious reaction by the league to tell him that they're going to fine him, have him be okay with that, and unilaterally decide on/threaten further punishment for the same action. That's wildly aggressive action from a league that has drawn out the abomination of the Arizona Coyotes team, location, ownership, arena, etc. There they have no teeth, but here they're ready to stamp this out.

It's just such a stupid blanket action because a handful of players want to be homophobic. Part of the issues and it's not an excuse, is that the Russians have tons of family back home and it's not below Russia to punish the players by going after their families. Sport was a HUGE part of Soviet propaganda. It is something to consider, players have already had shit happen with their families because of what happens in the NHL. |

a) not a penalty
b) subject to a $5,000 fine

Granted, he served 4 games as opposed to what should have probably been 2, but it was a stupid hit and he deserved to sit. Jacob Trouba (who seems to be guilty of a lot of bush league stuff and gets away with it) takes clear 2 handed baseball bat swing at Trent Frederic's head and gets a paltry 5k fine for it. The Department of Player Safety is either corrupt, or frighteningly incompetent. There's a reason every fanbase hates them and universally refer to the "wheel of justice" in regards to the arbitrary way that suspensions are handed out. |

I'm @#$%ing baffled by the way this league protects a shitty ass goon like Trouba.
This man took the golden child himself, Syndey-by God-Crosby, out of the playoffs a couple seasons ago with one of the dirtiest elbow shots you'll see in modern hockey, and nothing was done. He routinely skates around with his arms akimbo trying to level guys into concussions, and now he's trying to kill a man with a full-on swing to the face with his stick, and he gets a $5000 fine and NOTHING else?!
Does he have compromising pictures of everyone in the commissioner's office? Why is this guy, who sucks, treated with kids' gloves every @#$%ing year?
