NYI fire Lane Lambert and hire Patrick freakin Roy. Him and Lou Lamirello is a very, very interesting combination.

This looks fake as hell, but if these turned out to be what they're doing for the Stadium Series jerseys for the Isles/Flyers/Devils/Rangers, I'd go to NHL HQ right now and starve myself in protest until they changed them:

This looks fake as hell, but if these turned out to be what they're doing for the Stadium Series jerseys for the Isles/Flyers/Devils/Rangers, I'd go to NHL HQ right now and starve myself in protest until they changed them: Those jerseys look like they were "designed" by someone who only worked on them for an hour before deadline. And I say "designed" because apparently adding a color gradient to the team logo with a color stripe along the bottom with the team name written in cursive is what passes for a "design" these days.

Better than those goofy looking All Star jerseys at least.
Stars, despite their best efforts, hold on and stop a Red Wings comeback and this road trip comes to a merciful end.

I'm not sure it's speculation anymore when every player who took leave has been named.

I'm not sure it's speculation anymore when every player who took leave has been named. Well, when I edited my post to remove 2 names this morning, I had only heard of one taking a "personal leave" and one taking a "mental health leave" and it was the fact that one was flagged a "mental health leave" that made me second guess posting names. Then an hour or two later I saw 3 more names take "personal leaves" and that's when I made the second edit. Personally, I've decided to wait until a legitimate media site direct ties them to the story before I post names again EDIT: And if that "mental health leave" is in fact related to him getting charged then f*** his team for saying it was a mental health issue rather then just saying "personal leave" EDIT 2: I mean, it's f***ing Mental Health Awareness Day here in Canada. "Rape Accusation" isn't a goddamn "mental health" issue

The WJC story is stomach-churning and it's frankly amazing that something's apparently going to actually happen after all these years.
Selfishly, good Lord, even more Devils roster chaos for this season...but whereas it's mostly been injuries to this point, now it's something far grosser. If McLeod and Foote are implicated, here, that may well be the end of them on the team; McLeod had become a very prominent center for the team, so that on top of all the other missing pieces is crazy, but given what it's for, I sincerely hope fans recognize that there's a hell of a lot more important things in the world than hockey games, and justice being done is one of them.

Utah Jazz owners officially looking to bring a team to Salt Lake City What an odd choice that'd be; SLC isn't exactly a growing metropolis compared to other places, but I guess when the money/venue is there, and in a region where enough people are into cold weather sports, they'll at least give it a look. Wouldn't happen until likely 2030, but guess we'll see. The question in the end is, really, how far can expansion go before you've gone too far and created a situation where winning a Cup seems all but impossible? Do you get to a point where you have to break the two conferences up, and only have them cross paths very rarely during the season and then in the All Star Game and Final? Would you need to get to 36 teams to allow for more even divisions? And if so, where to, next? People always speculate Houston, obviously Quebec City would kill a man for the Nordique to return, but how practical does this all remain once you're at a point where, potentially, you'd have 33-36 teams and 16 playoff spots? Do you expand ala the NBA? Just so many questions that'd need to be answered. Note: I'd *love* for the Nordique to come back, they'd automatically be my #2 team. I'd say a newly reborn Whalers could be in that spot, but no way is the NHL coming back to Hartford, gotta think.

Some folks have thrown the idea/theory around that SLC could get the Coyotes if they can’t figure out their stadium situation in Arizona soon. No telling how realistic an idea that is for the NHL though.
