Just back from a WWE Live show in Liverpool featuring wrestlers from RAW so thought I’d share some stuff.
My fiancée has watched WWE ever since we met and she’s always wanted to see a live show so this was her first time. We live with her two teenage nieces (14 and 15) and they’d never cared about wrestling but too bad, they were going too.
First note of all. Packed, sold out show, primarily families with the odd group of guys. A bunch of teenage girls with “Cody’s Army” signs (is that a thing..?) Very traditional audience so the heels got boos, the faces were cheered. Hot crowd throughout, the only heel to get any cheers was Rhea.
The entire arena all went “ooof” at Bronson Reed’s splash on Shinsuke. Can’t see a bit of daylight in that thing, it looks like absolute death.
Crowd LOVED Otis. Chad made one of the best hot tags I’ve seen in ages, the crowd BLEW when he finally tagged in the big man. Great to see.
Weirdly, Cody was in the match before intermission and wasn’t seen again all night. Huuuge response. He had a street fight match with Seth, but only 1 kendo, 1 chair and one table. It wasn’t a tedious weapons match, there was psychology on whoever used those weapons was going to win.
Dominik had the most heat out of anyone and was fantastic, such a little weasel. The 14 year old niece said after it “he hid behind his girlfriend all the time, it was so annoying. If she wasn’t there the other guy (Ricochet) would have won.” That’s a heel for you, young ‘un.
Tell you what, if you’re not a fan of Seth’s music thing you’d have walked out of the main event. He stood there for about six minutes listening to the crowd (Damien Priest even tapped his “watch” halfway through). The crowd chanted it pretty much the entire match, then Seth got on the mic at the end and had another singalong to end the night and send the fans home happy.
All in all, really fun show. They announced they’re touring in the UK in October and my fiancée said “we NEED to go” so I guess she enjoyed it too.

I will say I think Seth's theme is a lot of bleh noise outside of the woah-oh, but that f***ing woah-oh is now one of the most synonymous things I've ever heard for a wrestling theme, it's right there with Bryan's YES and Cody's "WOAH-OH"

Surprised they’re still doing Cody vs Seth on house shows. They’re arguably the two biggest faces.

Thanks for this, glad you had fun. What was the Raquel/Piper match like?

Also, the fact that the second they hit the UK they’re booking Niven again… To me that’s a big sign that her absence from TV has probably been down to the dreaded visa issues.

Yeah, apologies, it was Seth vs Priest and Cody vs Balor. The Raquel/Niven match was a nice, basic “can she lift her up” match where Raquel’s back would give out every time she tried. In the end Niven missed a splash off the middle rope and Raquel got her up for a body slam, 123.

Honestly, live, non-televised shows shit all over going to a TV show like Raw or Smackdown. I went to one last week and it was a BLAST. Compare that to me being bored out of my skull at the last raw show I was at, it’s no comparison.
