I know people were divided on the first promo they had but I think Cole/MJF have been hitting it out of the park ever since in the ring and on the mic. I think this tag run is going to be super entertaining. They just work so well off of each other.

MJF is killing it. He's so much more fun when he's being a disingenuous smartass

the anti-Punk fan in me is so happy that MJF has not acknowledged the fact that Punk is claiming to be champion still with mystery bag.

It’s definitely put a different, more self-aware spin on “Will they co-exist?!” angles and they really do bounce off each other well.
I feel like people would really appreciate this MJF opposed to the terminally online stuff we usually get.

It’s going to lead to a “Adam Cole is in peril in a tag match, finally makes it to MJF for the hot tag, MJF jumps off the apron” isn’t it?

Nobody has any doubts about that. But give me a bunch of segments where Cole tries to hand MJF a video game controller and he acts like he’s being handed actual dog shit or Cole wondering why MJF is taking him to a strip bar and I’ll be happy with the journey to get there

I at once love odd couple tag teams and f***ing detest most "world champ and his opponent have to team up" stories because they rarely go into the good things about an odd couple tag team. The segments last night gave me what I need, if only through the lens of MJF being a disingenuous nightmare guy. Nothing aobut if they can co-exist or angry stares at one another all segment, but just actual entertainment. I'm with it. I'm ready for it to fall apart at just the right moment.

Your first sentence sums up my feelings very well. Odd couple tag teams? Yes, please. Opponents having to team up? No, thanks. Hopefully they can keep the odd couple energy going as long as possible before it inevitably goes to the turn.

What puts this one above most of those angles is how it makes sense with everything we know about the two already; MJF is using this situation to avoid wrestling Adam Cole again because he’s been the closest since Danielson to beating him clean and with his narrow mindset thinks money and lavish gifts are probably going to swing things in his favour. Cole is aware MJF is a piece of shit and is going to stab him the first chance he gets but it’s also the best way to get a proper world title shot and hey, if the guy gets beaten up and worn down before it, all the better. Also, considering what MJF will likely spend, Cole ain’t going to look a gift horse in the month. It all follows up on the match they had weeks ago and it makes it all the better when that match happens.

I'd take the party.

Also, who’d you bring up from Adam Cole’s past who isn’t in WWE or Impact right now? “Adam Cole, next week you’ll be facing someone who you beat to enter in the Best of the Best Tournament in 2012…PINKIE SANCHEZ!”

I like it because there really should be no way that Cole falls for any of MJFs crap and so he’ll play along as long as it suits him.
Does kind of make me think if they really wanted to shock people, they do the double turn and MJF is being actually genuine for once and is crushed when he eventually does watch Dynamite, only to see Cole bad mouthing MJF to Roddy. Never going to happen but it would be interesting…

I think the best recurring part of MJF's character is that, on some level - one he'd never be able to admit as a character - he actually does want a friend, but he has absolutely no understanding of how to be a decent enough person to make one. And on the rare occasion that someone gives him a chance, he immediately sabotages it because of his own worst tendencies and, presumably, because he assumes they're plotting to do it to him because of his own self-image.

That was one of my favorite MJF segments ever because it was just him being a douchy bro with no self awareness instead of screaming and trying too hard to come off like the "champion."
I hope we get a fun travel segment with MJF and Cole actually starting to get along for a minute. Obviously they need to start having problems but I wouldn't mind a few weeks where Cole started to rub off on MJF and vice versa.

I know it's a room temp take to say MJF "gets" being a heel, but the way for me that it really plays out is how the character he's constructed is an actual character. He's got flaws and depth and negative character traits that aren't just being the bad guy. Whern he's able to engage with those sides of the character most, he absolutely performs at his best because what's there starts to feel substantial. Being an insecure and lonely wreck with a vapid understanding of how to make someone like him and who is prone to self-sabotage adds just enough tangible pathos to his character to give it a dimension that most heels wouldn't think to add as a recurring piece, and it almost tips over into being something sympathetic until he reminds you that no he's awful in other ways too. It's brilliant and it's why there's such a stark difference between Good MJF, and Cheap Shots And Casual Xenophonbia MJF.

Is there someone they both greatly dislike that could bring them together? Schaivone Yeah, I literally expect the thing that makes them respect each other is how much they both hate Tony Schiavone.
