I just watched this for the first time. I knew of the comic it was based on so I was really interested to see how this would play out in movie form. All I can say about it, especially the ending is just... Wow! This is the best presentation of Superman I've ever seen. The way he makes it seem like he's been pushed over the line, the way he makes the whole world shit their pants at the thought of a Superman willing to kill. And then the way it all turns out to be "just a prank bro". Even after that, the way Superman responds when Black tells him that he's living in a dream world.
What I love about it all is that even though Superman as powerful as he is, at the end of the day he wants to inspire others to become bigger than they are. I know a lot of people don't like Superman because he comes off like a big blue boy scout, and I get that. I just think the way Superman is presented here is perfect. Thoughts?

The comic and the movie is one of the best representations of why Superman is the way he is. Why he will always "work" as a character, and anyone trying to "fix" him by making him grittier or more violent don't understand him on a fundamental level.

It's definitely one of the best Superman stories, and a great response to the cynicism in The Authority.
Superman as a villain seems to be the idea a lot of writers want to explore, but I think this story taps into something more interesting.
He's basically a benevolent god on a planet full of stupid, petty, squabbling beings, and he's trying to help them be better. Surely the pace of progress has to weigh on him sometimes.

I don't know if anyone notices it, but I like that Superman has a sense of humor about himself. Just because he won't cross the line, doesn't mean he can't have a little fun with it in some of the things he says. And in a way, that's as edgy as Superman needs to be. I wish Batman could be like that sometimes, he kinda is in The Dark Knight Returns films with the "if you screw this up you're fired" stuff he says.

The first game shows they perfectly understand the character with the way when the heroic one shows up he instantly shuts down all of the biggest threats in the Regime then beats the evil Superman... and then the sequel for some reason chooses to follow up on the evil one while providing no good option and the movie changes it so that the evil one wins defeating the entire goddamn point.

Yeah, the point that even Batman of the Injustice universe realizes the only one that could stop teh rampaging Superman was one that still had his morals in check. but this is also Injustice where Wonder Woman is literally IMMEDIATELY ok with becoming a fascist for no god damned reason...
