linkMajor win for the Rammers, as Collision's viewership is near-identical to Rampage the night before. I am normally not one to get into the divisive ratings discussion, and I understand that this was a holiday weekend, but this is kind of shockingly low to me. Feels worth discussing.

For sure Hamilton wont be getting shows again and they will be blamed for the bad rating, I feel they should consider moving the show once they face a WWE PPV, MITB was hours before Collision and I believe this caused Collision numbers to go down due to the insane ending MITB had.

People don't tune in to see where the show is taking place (except for a very few hot markets) There is no reason why the city of Hamilton should be blamed for this terrible number.

Because they barely reacted, Ethan cut a great promo and the reception was lukewarm for example.

Still has zero effect on how many people sat down to watch it on their television sets.

Not great. There are valid excuses - lots of wrestling earlier in the day + travel weekend + I'm sure there were other things on + it wasn't the most marquee show they could put on. If this weekend's number is similar (with Punk/Joe) then I think that will tell us this is where they'll be. If it's noticeably up, then they can still work to improve the situation.

They have tough competition this Saturday(Gold Cup and UFC 290)

They would have been better off having the show be live on Thursday instead of running a pre-tape. That is Turner's decision though. Saturday just isn't a good day for TV and it never will be. They could put Collision on Fridays directly up against Smackdown and it would do better than this.

Don't know if the ratings would be better, but i wish they actually went with the 5:00 PM timeslot that was rumored

Gonna guess the holiday weekend played a part. At the time Collision was on I was at a wedding with an open bar learning Bollywood Dances from the bridesmaids.... that post may have needed more context

Yo this is Rampage! Also juice vs starks outdrawing Punk. Are we really putting a 2023 main event with Roderick Strong on Punk because he was on commentary? Come on. Punk’s Collision match week one did 76% better in the overall viewership, and 170% better in the demo than Starks/Juice. Week two it did 33% better in viewership, 60% in the demo. Anyways - bad, bad number. Maybe it was just a bad night. If Joe vs Punk does something similar, it is a really really bad sign for the health of Collision going forward.

MITB was on Saturday, wasn't it? I wonder how many watched three hours of that and were then done with wrestling for the day.
It'll be interesting to know if the DVR numbers are good for Collision this week or if this is a genuine reflection of the Collision audience.

It'll be interesting to know if the DVR numbers are good for Collision this week or if this is a genuine reflection of the Collision audience. That was me. I was spent after MITB and there was nothing on Collision that looked good enough to keep me engaged. I suspect this weekend will bounce back a bit but it's a reminder that they can't let up on delivering a main event with top guys. Roderick Strong is not a top guy. Samoa Joe is probably even borderline midcarder these days unless you've got him in there with someone important.

I'm not looking to discredit these guys, that's not my objective. The entire show/card/day worked against this show doing a big rating. I just think it's a bit of fantasy to claim Juice/Ricky outdrew Punk.

The tell will definitely be how significant the bounceback is next weekend with an in-ring Punk main event.
To me, (assuming the dirt sheets are accurate, and the feud has not actually been resolved) Tony Khan is playing a dangerous game sowing locker room division and essentially giving Punk his own show like this, and 450k-700k viewers per week really doesn't feel like it's worth the damage that could ultimately be done, especially if certain guys end up not re-signing when their contracts come up in the very near future.
