People are insane if they think Collision still isn't like tripling the numbers in that spot they were doing just showing movie reruns, like people astound me, and also show their full ass sometimes when it comes to not understanding ratings in the slightest... This week’s Collision was most definitely not tripling what they were getting. Thurston posted the chart. It was 12 times in the last year they got 0.12 or above in the demo, 7 of those times beating this week’s Collision. Thurston’s point was that it’s much cheaper to run movies so even if they’re getting 0.10-0.12 and Collision gets a 0.13 it’s probably not worth it. I’d expect Collision to settle in higher than 0.13 though.

Also kind of funny in the end that while Punk was on the show, he didn't wrestle at all, most he did was commentary, but people wanted to blame this show, the taped one over a holiday weekend where he didn't have a match, on CM Punk specifically Now if Punk bs Joe doesn't draw... we have a whole different conversation. Guess we'll see soon enough but I agree with you, I expect this to be an outlier performance.

I think in a normal week, it still would have been a drop from the 0.21 they did in week 2. If they do poorly this Saturday with Joe/Punk and don’t pull week 2 numbers or better, I’d start to get worried. This is supposed to be the period where they can do the best, prior to college football season.

It's a good card on paper and they've been advertising it a lot, so I hope it does well, I don't want another 10 page ratings thread, I don't think anyone else does either lol

Got some iced tea and some hot fries, time for me to look over this thread. For real lol. this was a fun one. So, I guess next shows put up or shut up time. We should see the punk effect or lack thereof.

I'm 1000% convinced Warner knew what they were getting into by having a Saturday night wrestling show. I think the "doom and gloom" posts on a show 3 episodes deep might be a tad premature. Then again, I don't really think ratings are the be-all of how a wrestling show performs anyway.

I can't wait until ratings stop getting reported to the public.

I can't wait until ratings stop getting reported to the public. Yeah, I’m sick to death of this whole pissing contest. Doesn’t make me want to watch MORE wrestling, that’s for sure.

I remember people telling me how bad the Dreamcast was selling when all I wanted to do was playing Shenmue and House of the Dead II on Christmas Eve. Fun times.

Especially since Zaslav is showing how utterly terrible he is at his job as his tenure as WBD CEO drags on and on.

Then again, I don't really think ratings are the be-all of how a wrestling show performs anyway. I think ratings are significant because the main driver of revenue nowadays is media rights and the marker of what type of deal you can get from a network takes into account a lot of factors, but ratings are certainly up there as one of the main factors. As far as we know, AEW has yet to sign their big extension with Warner to take them beyond 2024 so the performance of Collision is likely crucial to getting the most they can in this deal. Are they going to end up getting NXT-like ratings and thus very little additional money, or will it end up a Dynamite-equivalent in the ratings and thus essentially double their TV deal?

Well jokes on them because the Dreamcast is the best console ever made, still to this day.
