Kenny's reign was incredible. Mox was a close second, though it sucked that a lot of it was during the pandemic era.

Kenny’s run was incredible. He worked his f***ing ass off. And it led to Hangman’s rightful moment.
But for me, it’s Jericho’s run. Big part definitely has to do with it being the first title reign and AEW being new but Jericho brought gravitas to the title. It felt established. Run was lots of fun and led to Moxleys crowning moment.

ma boy Kenny was the perfect champion IMO. I think Hangman is super talented and him winning it was a cool moment but I never really bought him as being at that level for whatever reason. Jericho and Moxley's runs were good, Jericho did a good job establishing the belt as something worth winning, and Moxley's held it in some tough times and done a solid job with it. MJF's run has been growing on me recently. Oh yeah and the less said about Punk's "reigns" the better lol.

I can't believe I'm saying it since I can't stand him now but Jericho. Most of the stuff that made me sour on him was around 2020 so after he dropped the title but that reign was perfect to establish the title and the feuds with Cody and Moxley were great and still my favorite period of AEW.

Omega. Character, matches, story (Tuesday? But Dynamite’s on Wednesday?!) Lots of fun.
Tie for 2nd with Jericho and Mox. Loved both runs.

Ugh. I despised Kenny's run. I don't like Omega at the best of times, but his reign made me hate him. Interference everywhere, the fact that it was pre-ordained how his run would end meaning matches had very little drama, introducing the f***ing Good Brothers and *shudders* Don Callis. It was so awful I stopped watching Dynamite completely during his run.
The best? Mox.

Tough call between Hangman or MJF, but I went with Hanger. The only two reigns that were about pushing the new.

MJF, I guess. Contemplating the choice made me realise I haven't really found any of the top runs I've seen very satisfying. Kenny's great in the ring and is probably second (I didn't see Jericho), but he never felt in danger or his feuds meaningful because it was so obvious he was losing to Hangman. Hangman had a great chase and then a reign where he never felt like the top or most important guy (and the back to back feud with Adam Cole was dreadful). Mox is just generally uninteresting, and Punk didn't actually have reigns.
MJF's reign has a fair number of flaws and it never feels like he's going to lose before they get their Punk/MJF boner out of the way, which is of course typical for AEW, but it's at least focused on actual AEW talents that I care about and Max himself always delivers the goods in ring and in trying to get his stories over.

Only Jericho and Omega made it feel important. Imo.
Admittedly I don't like Mox. And while I enjoyed the build, i think Page sucked as actually champion.
So... Id go Kenny.
Punk never should have touched the title, imo.

Punk never should have touched the title, imo. Page's presentation as champion left a lot to be desired. It was a bit of a callback to Punk's 2012 run with the WWE strap in that he was a 'main' guy without ever quite being the main guy. Key example being the second match with Danielson after their hour-long barn-burner, Page successfully knocks him off and they move on in seconds like it was only a successful C-title defense rather than your top guy vanquishing an adversary. I agree on Punk. Even still, if they were absolutely adamant on Knobbly Knees Punk, why the f*** did they go face-versus-face rather than putting a transitional heel in there to move the belt to Punk? The roster has a load of would-be main-eventers that could've served the role. Hell, Adam Cole was still healthy and actually feuding with Hanger until just before Punk, he totally could've cheesed the title. It did Hangman no favours and that's aside from the drama, the feud was built as an afterthought and Punk's win was treated as all but foregone.

Hangman was done dirty the moment Punk was signed. It is what it is.
He was putting in the work, and he was having matches that I'm willing to say outdo Moxley on the "bloody brawl" scale. Hangman SHOULD have been the tough as nails "cowboy of the people" type of babyface who had a run nearly as long as Mox's.
I'm not even disagreeing with putting the belt on Punk eventually - love him or hate him, he is a top guy and he does move merch - just that the ultimate decision maker at AEW got impatient, and Adam Page's title reign was the victim.

Yea it sucks for Page. I was actually excited for him to win the belt. Then....it just underwhelmed. I honestly hope we get some short reigns soon.

Kenny Omega's AEW Championship Run was my favorite, by far.
