Two old school football choices here. Matt Le Tissier at Southampton and Paulo Di Canio at West Ham. Paulo I’ll give you but Le Tiss has become an anti everything conspiracy theorist nut job since Sky let him go so you could say he’s wasted his own talent Keeping on Football, Romelu Lukaku, not used well by Chelsea as a youngster but shined on loan at West Brom then had 4 incredible years scoring for fun at Everton but has since flattered to deceive at Man Utd, back at Chelsea and 2 spells at Inter and is now in limbo in his career as Chelsea haven’t gave him a squad number

One of Everton's problems has been actually putting the ball in the net (obviously) and Lukaku can score. Granted, by the time he was done at Everton, he seemed "bored" so.... maybe it would've been worse.

I blame his change of agent and Ronald Koeman for that, the agent got in his ear and Koeman, instead of talking him up to stay at the club, pretty much encouraged him to leave after his 4th season, which was Koeman’s full season. Our owner’s thinly veiled racist remarks about Rom’s mother didn’t help either

Wilfred Zaha was one of the best young talents coming through when he was a Crystal Palace prospect, went to Man Utd far too young in his development and he was left to rot. Quite rightly went back to Palace where he single handedly carried that team in the Prem for far too long but missed the big chance to go to a top team when he was ready due to loyalty, a long contract and Palace slapping a huge transfer price tag on him. Played his contract out, sadly no one at the top end of the market wanted him (age was probably the main factor) and is now jobbing out at Galatasaray. Lack of proper top end experience probably affected his decision to represent Ivory Coast instead of England too.
In fairness, Arsenal should have coughed up the cash in his absolute prime, but instead wasted even more money signing Nicolas Pepe- who they're stuck with still to this day.

Loved Di Canio but can't see him doing well at a big club, maybe could of done something at Chelsea with his compatriots.

Maybe controversial, but Shearer at Newcastle? They were always challenging for stuff but never won anything dispite having some and decent squads and managers who had won things int the past. Not even a league cup.

Mike Trout is for sure. At less Ohtani has a chance to get out of that trainwreck with some of his prime years left. Trout is stuck.
NFL Any big time player who had to play for The Lions. As mention above Like Barry Sanders or Megatron. Brandon Marshall regardless of what team like said never made a playoff team in his career with over 10K yard is insane.

Loved Di Canio but can't see him doing well at a big club, maybe could of done something at Chelsea with his compatriots. Di Canio was a guy who had to be the focal point of the team. At Chelsea he would have been competing for playing time with Gianfranco Zola, who was both much more consistent in his form and far less problematic on and off the pitch. Good as he was, I doubt Di Canio would have lasted longer than a year before he had one of his all-too-frequent altercations with the manager.

Here's a hot take: Drazen Petrovic on the Nets, they mismanaged him so poorly he was thinking about going to Greece. They had no one around him that was consistent (Kenny Anderson and Derek Coleman IMO were wild inconsistent)

Trout and Ohtani have already been mentioned, but they deserve to be again considering the fact that the Angels might lose BOTH of them in the offseason.
