Toni Storm is gonna have to ask for permission before every match to hit, well any of her finishers.

Sweet Robot Santa and his pal Jesus, do I really need to remind some of you this isn't Twitter, because, this isn't Twitter. This also isn't the Southern Molehill Wrestling boards, the 1980s, 90s, 00s or even the early 10s anymore. We don't need Robot Santa around these parts. there's no rule that says a dog can't compete in a wrestling match! Bron Breaker: 'I've been proving that dogs are allowed for years, especially badass dogs."

The talent has also been banned from talking about Jamie Hayter's butt.

I think the Dante Martin thing woke some ppl up. That was excessive. As a trusted high flyer in a big ladder match I actually think that would still get approved. It's more to stop someone like Anna Jay getting injured on that table spot when they could easily set something much safer up without losing much. Or preventing Billie Starkz landing on her head doing a swanton to the outside on a random rampage.

They should go a step further and introduce quotas;
'Sammy, you are only allowed to dive to the outside once a month'
'Outcasts, you are limited to 7 uses of the loser 'L' sign per feud'
'Mox, no more than 4 litres of blood spilt per quarter' *Mox throws a tantrum, headbutts the wall and gigs, frantically trying to dry it off straight away*
'The entire roster can utter the word "shit" on live television no more than twice per calendar year' Chucky T: 'oh for f***s sake'

I'm all for this. Less so to protect the workers, but to introduce more variety to matches. I love a big piledriver or a good apron spot, but when it happens every match it kills it's significance. Having a better plan for matches so they have a different layout is a big plus for me.
Plus I f***ing hate seizure sells so very happy about that

I'll also say this, like, if the wrestlers in AEW suddenly can't have good matches with these new restrictions in place, then they're not good workers.
Hulk Hogan didn't need to bleed every match, and take a 720 moonsault pile-driver off the apron, but he still became the biggest star in the history of the business.

Picturing Mox sitting in his home office with his reading glasses on, filling in 40 pages of forms requesting permission to have an exploding grenade on a poll barbed wire fire pit first blood last man standing death match. ...that ends in a tap out.

I have absolutely no problem with any of this. Improving worker safety is never a bad thing.

I do have to wonder what this could potentially mean for the future with AEW talents taking outside bookings. If these mandates are them wanting to protect AEW talents inside their own ring, would it only be a matter of time until they start taking notice of what AEW talents do outside of it? I think they'll let under utilized talent take all the indy bookings they want while their main event roster had to be more choosy (Mox...)

I got not problem with this, like if you're a good worker you shouldn't need a million flips or table spots.
Maybe this'll cut down on repeat spots too? Like somebody goes through a table like 5 times during a PPV, maybe like..save the table spot for later so it means something.

Tony khan can’t stop anyone on the roster from force feeding their opponent with hot dogs until they tap out Or the we'll just kick you in the crotch til you give up.

I've been saying for years that this should be the go-to strategy in No DQ matches. I assume the only thing preventing it is Mutually Assured (Nut) Destruction

I assume the only thing preventing it is Mutually Assured (Nut) Destruction That or once you open up that box you wonder why people just don't always do that. To be fair in wrestling why people let anyone get up to do a move instead of just kicking them in the head is a big logic buster but it is what it is.

Well this thread took a left turn that I wasn’t expecting. Anyways, no, there’s nothing wrong with this at all. I’ll take safer matches and wrestlers being healthy over wacky stunts and people not being able to walk in their 40s.

There's the stuff that's there for safety reasons (chairshots to the head, bleeding in the crowd), for bad PR reasons (faking concussion/seizure symptoms) and there's stuff that's there so that some spots don't get repetitive in the show (or overall). If your main event is using chairs/kendo sticks/ring steps whatever, you don't want the every other match using them heavily.

I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill over this. I think AEW is just setting down rules because they hadn't set down any rules before, so when they called out someone like MJF for throwing tequila at that kid or Danielson for faking seizures, the response could have been, "Well, where are the rules that say I can't do that?" So now there are some rules they can point to in those circumstances. I seriously doubt these rules are going to be strictly enforced to the point where it affects the product in any significant way.
