This is, like the most milquetoast rating imaginable. Like, I'm not exactly a forum veteran, but I think I can do the entire thread myself in a single post.
Person A: 825,000? Seems kind of low, doesn't it?
Person B: I'm sure cable was down overall. .29 is a pretty good demo, I bet it was #1 on the night. AEW is killing it.
Person C: Yeah, but look at the year over year numbers, they are down significantly. That's interesting, right? AEW's storylines clearly aren't very hot right now.

Jericho/Kommander got the drop it deserved. Unappealing television.
MJF and Cole are hitting well right now. It’s almost like this whole MJF as a face thing….works.

Damn all that time and talent wasted with MJF's stupid stories about highschool girlfriends and desperate cheap heat when he could have been bumping up ratings with the revolutionary idea of being entertaining.
He has fans going wild for the prospect of a damn double clothesline.

If they feud with CMFTR then I expect an even bigger number, because we would get Pinnacle drama and MJF/Punk resuming the feud that was put on hold due to Brawl Out.

That is a BIG bump for MJF and Cole who would have guessed good talent only need a good story besides me want title match?
I have been down on Cole in the past but he is killing it.

It's fitting that this MJF and Adam Cole storyline is their """"""biggest draw"""""", for as much as a car fire can "draw fans" to witness its smouldering wreck. For it is but an allegory; Adam Cole is AEW and MJF is success itself, and just as this wretched five-ring circus enjoys the illusion of a bond with success, so too does Adam Cole draw in closer to MJF out of belief they are becoming close. When finally the knife is twisted and MJF abandons Cole, it will be just as the ratings themselves abandon AEW. A cold, lonely plummet into obscurity and unsold t-shirts. The only fitting end for this weekly mockery of good taste. AEW "fans" simply wish to see the demise play out in the parables of old like ancient theater so they may one day mythologize AEW's downfall, because their grandest of myths will be all that yet stands, and fond distortions of truth shall be warmer to hold than any of the true memories this failed trapeze act has ever given us.

People got bored of heel MJF throwing his opponents in Gauntlets and tournaments, and the Pillar story was probably a big wake up call for him to do something interesting after DON and the pairing with Cole has worked so far.

It’s almost like people are interested in the idea of babyface MJF or something.
Fancy that.

They really have a chance to do something creative and unique with MJF as a babyface. I hope they don't blow it.

After the success of Roman/Sami and Cole/MJF, I am convinced the best drawing storyline in wrestling is a will they/won't they bromance angle.

After the success of Roman/Sami and Cole/MJF, I am convinced the best drawing storyline in wrestling is a will they/won't they bromance angle. For drawing TV ratings (as opposed to big PPV ratings, which will always be dominated by big matches)...probably, actually. It's a type of story that allows two popular personalities to play off one another, and it doesn't always have as foregone a conclusion as some other angles, since there's always the possibility that the two become a team or alliance instead of moving on to a match. Plus, this can be kept up for a while before bringing in the heel heat. Thus, there's strong narrative tension without as many undesirable or depressing outcomes along the way.

I'm legit struggling to think of examples when it didn't get over. The old unexpected partners who end up bonding story is almost always successful in wrestling. Rock N Sock. Team Hell No. RK-Bro. Booker & Goldust. Regal & Eugene. MVP & Matt Hardy. Sheamus/Cesaro. Sami in the Bloodline. Sabu & RVD. Acclaimed/Daddy Ass. Hookhausen. MJF/Cole. Hell, Kane would probably have his own chapter in any book written on the subject. It worked great for him multiple times (X-Pac, RVD, Hurricane, Bryan).
