I think Kronik was the most over Bryan Adams had been in a half-decade. He coasted as NOD Crush/DOA Crush and didn't do too much as nWo warm body after his initial jump, but once Kronik became a thing he was a bigger star than he'd been since Kona Crush.

Great post. The one I wonder about is Piper. I mean he was as big as it could get in the WWF. He really felt like a mid to lower card guy in WCW after the 96 Starrcade match, at least to me. Piper was a weird run. Im going to say Indifferent. I say that because he was MEing in 97. He had wins over Hogan again. Than we kind of saw him break down in 98 and 99. he kind was booked dumb because some reason all but one match was non title against Hogan. The one that was was botched ended if you watch it back. Oh, I definitely agree, but it's still a small step above what he was doing in WWF. I'll outright admit that I really didn't like Piper very much in WCW, even when he was at the top of the card. I think Kronik was the most over Bryan Adams had been in a half-decade. He coasted as NOD Crush/DOA Crush and didn't do too much as nWo warm body after his initial jump, but once Kronik became a thing he was a bigger star than he'd been since Kona Crush. For sure! I forgot him in my original list, but yeah he was just such a goof as 'the jailbird'. It's not even that Kronik was that good, but it was a good fit for him after years and years of mediocrity.

I'd put Bryan Clark in that list aswell Adam Bomb and Wrath are going to take you so far aswell but again Kronik were over for the time they were in WCW at least.

Kevin Nash was big in the WWF, obviously, as Diesel, but it's probably an easy argument to make that his star value went up tremendously as himself on his WCW return. Kevin Nash is probably the single strongest argument that a wrestler's drawing power is not static and that the qualities that put someone on top can be leveraged to make more money elsewhere.

I agree about Sean Waltmann. He was alright as the 1-2-3 Kid, but I thought he took a big step in WCW. Syxx walked so X-Pac could run. I was gonna say Waltman got bigger each time he jumped ship. Probably one of the guys that benefited most from that crazy time period, actually.

Every single ECW name. ECW was beloved by hard-core fans, but it was not a national promotion in the US and certainly wasn't an international one. The guys who stayed with ECW didn't walk away from it's collapse as megastars, aside from RVD who was a top tier athlete in his prime, the bulk of them walked into drug addiction, XPW and indie obscurity.
Even a short stint in front of 3 million fans on a Monday night will make you into more of a star in the eyes of the public than never having had that moment in the spotlight.

Of course he wasn’t as big as being Mr Perfect but Hennig’s jump to WCW was a good jolt for him at that point in his career.

Piper was definitely lesser. He was the Lex Luthor of the Rock & Wrestling Era. In WCW he was old guy with artificial hip making goofy cringe jokes and reliving feuds that were over a decade past their prime.
