Having never watched it it feels like every single time I see anyone at all describe Collision they paint a wildly different picture of it to where I really have no clue what on earth this show is actually like. It's a Rorschach test of a professional wrestling show.

Collision is basically a throwback to WCW Saturday Night and Saturday Nights Main Event. It's those shows plus modern elements

As someone who's also not watching, the impression I get is that it's different from Dynamite but still fundamentally AEW, which makes the exact differences hard to pin down.

Having never watched it it feels like every single time I see anyone at all describe Collision they paint a wildly different picture of it to where I really have no clue what on earth this show is actually like. It's a Rorschach test of a professional wrestling show. As someone who's also not watching, the impression I get is that it's different from Dynamite but still fundamentally AEW, which makes the exact differences hard to pin down. A big thing is the commentary. There's no Excalibur, no Tony, no Taz. It's Nigel and Kevin Kelly/Ian, I'd say Kevin's ok but Ian is ten times better on the mic and he and Nigel are really great chemistry wise, and they add a different sort of flare on the mic There are a few aesthetic changes, I'd say Collision opens up with the promo trope a bit more than Dynamite, including pre-show promos before the intro of some of the big time matches, this is very Saturday Night's Main Event feeling of them. The Collision intro also sometimes highlights who is fighting in big matches that night, so it changes even more frequently than Dynamites Though there can be more opening promos it can have a more ROH wrestling focused feel, which is really, really good for Ian's type of commentary style. There are storylines however, I'd say they're finally starting to hit a groove there and actually have developments that carry from the other shows or flow into Dynamite, or want you to see what happens next with Collision I'd say the differences aren't extreme, some people seem to think they are or think it's just an entirely different feel than Dynamite, I don't get that impression from my own perspective, but they are actively trying different ways to build up and present certain talents. For the most part it's definitely working, last show was almost like a damn mini PPV. This week pulled back the gas a bit, much like how Dynamite can be itself, but I have enjoyed the show up to this point, and would recommend it to people who have yet to give it a watch. I'd strongly recommend last week's show as well, the 2 out of 3 falls tag match and even the tag match they had before it the previous week are insanely good.

Mid 2010's Raw made me stop watching wrestling every week for the first time since 2002 whereas Collision for me is a pretty entertaining 2 hours of TV that I kinda look forward to, IDK what point I'm trying to make other than I disagree.

This weeks opening is what I hated so much about wwe. Opening promo with interruptions leading to a main event being booked.
A big thing I love about AEW, is them announcing the whole card in advance.

The "let's make this a TAG TEAM MATCH, playa" opening was certainly not my thing, but as long as it doesn't become a big habit I'm not going to get hung up on it.
Where it bears some resemblance to WWE, I think, is that its main featured roster is smaller than Dynamite's, and thus there's more focus on a more concentrated group of people. This can be a turn off for some ("I'm tired of seeing these people", "why don't they feature so-and-so more", etc.), but it also has its advantages, mainly that it can really get those featured players over due to the more consistent air time. I'm curious if, moving forward, Collision kind of integrates a rotating "featured cast"; I know some of the guys on there may be there for awhile due to the drama of the last year, mainly Punk and Andrade, while others like Malakai have asked to be on it since the schedule works better for his home life, but guys like Ricky, Hobbs, and Jay White are guys who could easily feature more on Dynamite, as well, so maybe at some point the spots they've been filling on the show will get cycled to other people who'll get that spotlight.

I mostly enjoy Collision though this past week's episode was DIRE.
But yes, I'll take Collision, Dynamite, Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and basically every other notable weekly TV show over whatever the hell Rampage has become.

Collision has some truly great matches and great wrestlers, but I don't really care about anything other than Christian. That's very 2010s RAW for me. Christian is the highlight of collision for me lol

A big thing I love about AEW, is them announcing the whole card in advance. AEW has gone away from announcing full cards in advance for a bit now. I agree, it should be done. But they are insistent on holding off matches to reveal on other TV shows as if that’ll help ratings.

A few matches that are mostly pretty bad or forgettable each week.

Not to blow smoke up his ass because he posts here, but Ian's been excellent the times he's filled in on Collision so far. He and Nigel have solid chemistry, too.
