Update on federal investigations regarding Vince McMahon

WWE noted the following listed among their legal proceedings in today's quarterly earnings report:

As previously disclosed on June 17, 2022, a Special Committee of the Board of Directors was formed on June 15, 2022 to investigate allegations of misconduct by Vince McMahon. As previously disclosed, the Special Committee investigation was completed during the fourth quarter of 2022. However, related government investigations remain ongoing.

On July 17, 2023, federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on Mr. McMahon. No charges have been brought in these investigations.

The Company has received voluntary and compulsory legal demands for documents, including from federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies, concerning the investigation and related subject matters.

Fully consistent with prior expectations, the Company and Endeavor expect their transaction to be closed in the second half of 2023.

When asked about this during today's media conference call, Nick Khan stated that WWE had no comment on the matter but would assist in any investigations.

McMahon was announced as being on a "medical leave of absence" following spinal surgery two weeks ago, which almost to the week matches up with the serving of the subpeona and search warrant.

On a serious note, this has more to do with Vince's conduct than WWE's (who by all reports is fully cooperating). And this is why I've been saying for months that Vince isn't going to stick around long after the Endeavor/WWE merge is complete. He's too much of a liability. He'll probably be around for maybe half a year or so (after the merger is complete), but I wouldn't be shocked if he gets kicked out of TKO once everything is settled down, especially if he is eventually charged by the feds. There's a reason why Nick Khan is being kept around post merger, after all.

"You have to like person A because person B is much worse" is never a good argument, as it assumes everyone who dislikes person A likes person B.

That it took them a year to even execute a search warrant on his house makes me wonder just how much of a case they've been building in the background of this. It's going to be interesting to see where this goes and if there's real meat to this. And/or if there's other stuff that these requests for documents might have uncovered, because I'd be genuinely shocked of the only f***ery WWE's had going on has been Vince not reporting his settlements.

I can believe, as a worker at heart, Vince held off the operation until McDevitt, before leaving, told him this might happen and then he suddenly realized he needed the surgery.
