The Office is like a billion dollar property, why the f*** is there a Kickstarter for a spin-off? You’re telling me that even if the actor had the rights to use the character he couldn’t find one production company in Hollywood to financially back a f***ing Office spin-off pilot to shop around?

I'm still annoyed they didn't at least give a short season to The Farm. Sure, it probably would've been terrible, but I would've gotten a bit more Dwight Schrute in my life. LOL

Going from some Reddit threads the consensus seems to be that Leslie David Baker (the guy who played Stanley) is kind of a shady dude. He even had his own cryptocurrency, Stanley Nickels based on a one-off joke from The Office. As far as I know the proposed spinoff was never actually authorized by the powers that be at NBC. So I’ve heard an idea was that if he got it funded but still didn’t sway NBC his character would just be “Uncle Stanley” rather than actually Stanley Hudson from The Office. I guess from there he was just praying to the copyright gods that the highly litigious NBC wouldn’t go after him. Also, speaking of those Reddit threads, I also found this comment about Leslie David Baker. I’n pretty sure the poster is making a joke reference to something I’m unfamiliar with, but just prefer to take it at face value:

Did anyone like Stanley from the Office that much to want a spinoff? I would've given it a shot.

Did anyone like Stanley from the Office that much to want a spinoff? Probably not, but that wouldn't usually stop folks from trying. Remember when doing a Spinoff of 'Daria' based off of the Jodi character was a thing they were going to do?

So like there was never a chance this was going to be a thing because the moment he claimed to be Stanley from the Office... they'd be sued to hell.

All I remember about Stanley was a deleted scene where a folder or something of his is spilled, and anime porn falls out, and his character explaining in the confessional thing what "hentai" is. Did anyone like Stanley from the Office that much to want a spinoff? Probably not, but that wouldn't usually stop folks from trying. Remember when doing a Spinoff of 'Daria' based off of the Jodi character was a thing they were going to do? Still unsure if that's dead or not, some of these projects come out and I think, "I was positive that they'd cancelled it." Like, it was actually around 10 years ago where I had a survey I took for MTV asking me if I wanted to see more Clone High. That's how long that revival was at least being seriously discussed, and it only really just recently actually came out.

It reminds me of the time on the Netflix series Love when the main character accidentally streamed his porn on the house speakers when he and his friends were vacationing. Then him defensively saying he wasn’t masturbating leading one of the females to say something like, “Its so much weirder that you were just watching that and not masturbating.”

I never donated, but can I have my money back for having to contemplate how absolutely terrible a "Stanley Spinoff" would be?

Did anyone like Stanley from the Office that much to want a spinoff? I mean, who knew that Frazier Crane would be the only character to get a Cheers spin-off and have his show run longer, rack up a ton of awards, and be looked at for a revival?

You forgot to mention it’s also a brilliant show that, depending on your tastes, is debatably better then Cheers

A good creative team can make any character shine, but with that said, writers of that calibre probably weren't chomping at the bit to work on this.

Oh god, haven’t watched Frasier in about 10 years but I totally forgot about Daphne’s family
