Doctor Simon Hurt is a huge favorite of mine from recent years, but “Bruce Wayne’s immortal occultist ancestor who made him hallucinate shit in a sensory deprivation tank and then returned to beguile him before a space god sent Batman careening through time” is probably hard to pull off without Grant Morrison carefully juggling all of those balls.

Man Bat in a film would be nice. Or crap the c listter that was the second female Robin's father, second one if you count Carrie Kelly as an official Robin. Cluemaster?
Yall making me want to dig out my bound volumes of DC's Who's Who and see what all C or lower level Bat villians would be fun on the big screen.
How about a Batman film with Kite Man and David Lynch Directing?
Or one about the first 4 Clayfaces, who have teamed up at least once as Mudpack, but get David Cronenberg to direct it.
Just please no more Batman origin stories. No more Joker,no more Two Face,no more Penquin. Pretty much if it is a Bat villain that my 80 year old father can name skip them for the next film.
Calender Man,The calculator, the Rat Catcher...Batman has one of the largest rogues gallery in comics. But the films stick to the same 5 villains.

A horror movie with Pyg as the main villain. Pyg is pure nightmare fuel. I'd rather come face to face with any of Batman's other villains, even Joker, but Pyg? Oh f*** no.

There's so much they could do with the Court of Owls in a proper film. Mysterious organization running Gotham from the shadows versus the World's Greatest Detective. It could be Eyes Wide Shut meets Winter Soldier by way of a genuine whodunit.

I thought about Man-Bat too, but it’d really depend on the vibe of the film. It’ll be interesting to see how grounded (or not) Gunn’s Batman is.

I will now use this moment to state screw "grounded" . It's a movie about a guy that wears a f***ing bat costume and punches people, also he's a Billionaire that uses his money to help people...
So it's inherently not grounded in reality from the start.

I definitely prefer a Batman that usually but not entirely keeps a dark, serious tone and tries to treat itself as operating under general real world rules... while also having no qualms about just, "And here's an actor who's a made of clay and can transform into people," and, "And here's a scientist who turned himself into a giant bat monster." Kind of way BtAS and the Arkham games handle it, mostly take themselves as seriously as the premise allows but every now and then you just take a hard turn into Bat-Mite and Farmer Brown showing up.

And I hope Gunn’s Batman is more lighthearted and fantastical, just cuz we been gritty and dark for almost two decades now.

Same, I prefer a more grounded take. You can do that with outlandish characters but I don't really care that much for a cartoony slapstick Batman

For grounded I meant the ones that insist on everything needing to be realistic when again there is nothing realistic about the concept.
Whatever style they want to go otherwise I've enjoyed Batman 66, Batman 89, The Dark Knight, TAS and Brave and the Bold... it's really just a matter of what you're trying to do with the character.
But we keep getting the Grounded and Realistic takes on the character in movies to the point where you have to twist the characters that have existed for almost 100 years into things that don't even resemble themselves anymore to get it to fit their vision...
because despite again the outlandish premise a thief that Obsessively needs to prove he's smarter than you or a bodybuilder with super steroids is a bridge too far for you.
Hell one of my favorite things that Gunn added to the Snyderverse was that Batfleck met Batmite at some point...

You know what's a film that was serious enough but still embraced its somewhat out there premise?
Batman vs The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Its an odd crossover and the use of ooze as a plot point takes it some wild places, yet the whole experience works because the characters are written well and even the wild story turns don't feel contrived. Its the kind of flick I'd love to see a live action version of because it manages generally strong emotional moments while at the same time having Poison Ivy turn into a Venus Fly Trap.
