Pat Sakai had these great words to say about the Shopping Round”:
“It was the most BORING minutes on TV.”

I’m 43. I vaguely remember the early days when Vanna came out through a curtain and when the whistle for Final Spin was heard, I thought that a train was passing through.

Werent the Woolery episodes taped over? Unless you can find someone who was taping in 1975 (and they would have had to use one of those vintage recording systems like Cartivision, which would be really interesting to try to digitize).

Woolery lasted till what 82? I know I saw him as the host as a kid. And while owning a vcr in the late 70s/early 80s wasnt common they were out there. We got our Betamax VCR in 77 or 78. And got a VHS VCR in 80 or 81.

Hmm, I found a GSN airing of Woolery Wheel from 1976, so the eps ARE out there:

Hmm, I found a GSN airing of Woolery Wheel from 1976, so the eps ARE out there: I THINK they got it from the Paley Center archives, which has a handful of Woolerys. Of course, whatever else is out there came from people recording it. Assuming the pilots of Wheel online came from studio master copies somehow...could they be used on Pluto? The first Pat episode seems to be a second hand copy too.

Apparently anything pre 1985 on NBC daytime was susceptible to being erased. Actually, if I may mention her again, as I often do with things game show, Cyndi Seidelman recently posted an intact vs. wiped list for NBC daytime games on Facebook.
