Johnny Hardwick, known for playing Dale Gribble on "King of the Hill," has died.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they were called to Hardwick's Texas home Tuesday for a welfare check and discovered his body. We're told Hardwick was pronounced dead at the scene ... and no foul play is suspected. We don't yet know the cause of death.

This sucks, he was coming back for the revival too, and he reportedly didn't complete voice work for it so... that also really sucks

Idk if this is a voice you can just replace for the show, much like when John Witherspoon passed and the Boondocks revival got scrapped over it, this might give pause to the entire production at least

RIP to a legend, seriously brought so much life and love to this role, if someone does in fact take up the mantle, I wish them luck, it's a big role to fill.

It’s ghoulish to speak of so soon, but they could do AI. Though if they have aged the characters and have only apparently completed six episodes, you could recast and that explains the voice change. Get a guy who can approximate the voice with tons of gravely tones, because of Dale’s lifelong smoking.

I don’t want the show going forward without Dale Gribble. But none of that is the point. This thread is for Johnny.

First of all, RIP to Mr. Hardwick.

I'm stoked for the revival and have been since it was announced. I firmly believe that they should recast it. I'm not in favor of AI just because of that Pandora's box that gets opened. We don't retire characters when Mickey Mouse's actor dies or retires, we didn't retire the Muppets when Jim Henson died. You can easily explain away the voice change due to smoking.
