Honestly, I think 2019 might be the worst year of the 2010's.
I'd say 2018 was still worse. Like, 2019 you had promising stuff that either had a bad ending or was inexplicably dropped. 2018 after the Rumble onward you just really get way more misses than hits that go down sour from start to finish.
I don't want the bad vibes of 2018 to hijack the thread, so I'd like to request we keep it just to this post with a quick list.
In 2018 you had:
- RAW 25 (maybe the worst special television event of the decade)
- Roman winning the elimination chamber after Strowman eliminated everyone else (a seemingly deliberate contempt for audience finish)
- The Fabulous Moolah battle royal snafu
- Owens and Zayn's "Yep" movement, and later them both trying to get "Signed to Raw."
- The massive slogging disappointments of Mania 34
- Strowman teamed with a child and immeadiately relinquished the title
- The start of the Saudi shows where the propaganda got cranked way up way early
- Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass feud
- Road Dogg era Smackdown with the anal mucus cherry on top of the shit sundae being the Nakamura-Styles dick kick saga
- The Sami Zayn vs Lashley feud (with the segment of "Lashley's Sisters")
- The Kevin Owens - Strowman feud where Owens did some humiliating and genuinely super risky bumps that are seldom remembered
- The Carmella vs Asuka feud (a rare misstep between the two consistent talents by shoehorning James Ellsworth back into it)
- Kevin Owens quitting WWE in the middle of the ring only to be on the very next Raw with no explanation
- Natalya vs Riott Squad feud that just kept bumming everyone out
- The Strowman super forced heel turn with an alignment alongside Ziggler and McIntyre
- Ambrose's heel turn morphing him into a germaphobe
- The underwhelming blowoff to the years-long Bryan-Miz feud being like two minutes
- The "Will they or won't they" uneasiness around the second Saudi show after the Saudi government executes an American resident and WWE rides the fence, including an extremely poor taste, even by wrestling standards, "joke" in a promo between Stephanie and Strowman about "disembowling co-workers"
- Shawn Michaels having the worst big return of all time in the Shawn/Triple H vs Brothers of Destruction abortion
- "Acting General Manager" Constable Baron Corbin
- Shane McMahon winning the Best in the World tournament
- WWE always resetting back to Lesnar
Like, that shit isn't even fun to recap.
