I always thought this was interesting but it was overshadowed by Shane showing up a couple minutes later and revealing he bought WCW.
He polled the fans to gauge reactions on who should be part of any new WCW. Goldberg was clearly the most popular. Fans were chanting for him before his name was even mentioned. Scott Steiner and Sting got positive responses too. Booker T and Buff Bagwell got mixed reactions. Hogan and Lex Luger were booed which is surprising in Hogan's case considering when he showed up a year later people loved him.
He didn't mention Nash or Hall. How do you think the crowd would have reacted to their names? How about Flair/DDP/Sid/Jarrett/etc?

I think the WCW footage that Vince and Trish Stratus were watching together at Raw was, at least in some cases, shot at Nitro that same day. Lex Luger mentioned in an interview that he showed up to the last Nitro, did a pre-tape, and left. Jarrett was backstage at Nitro that night, too. |

I am not terribly shocked Booker T got mixed reactions. He was unfortunately booked REALLY badly as a world champion, and his credibility was shot. Being a heel during the InVasion and actually getting to show some humor and personality was an absolute godsend for him and his career.

I always got the feeling that Vince looked at the WCW roster available to him and decided in about 2 minutes that Booker T was the only guy he had any actual interest in pushing ever. |
