wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/hulk-hogan-recalls-being-in-wembley-stadium-with-michael-jackson-says-he-helped-bring-simon-cowell-to-the-united-statesHogan told a story about bringing Simon Cowell to the United States: “He came to help with the wrestling album. Long story. I'll make it short. I was in Wembley Stadium and I saw a lot of Make-A-Wish kids. It was me, Michael Jackson, Mr. T. It was all the Make-A-Wish kids during the 80s and 90s. I had a kid there that was in rough shape. The EMTs were with him and he was on the stretcher and you know, his body odor and stuff, it had a smell to it that I hadn't smelled in a while. Not bad, but it was just a different type of smell. I really wasn't sure what it was and the parents were freaking out. They were Hulkamaniacs. I told the doctors and EMTs you know, ‘The kid is in kind of trouble here, you know? So let me say my goodbyes and give him a hug and kiss him. I got a nice place for him out at ringside at Wembley Stadium and it was all roped off.’ So I went to wrestle and I kept looking, I kept looking, and the kid wasn't there. So when I came back from wrestling, I was the last person to wrestle in the main event. I said, 'What happened to the family out there?' They said the kid passed away.”

Hulk Hogan can smell imminent death. This may be near the top of the Hogan lie iceberg

I’ve heard this nonsense before, but this is the first time I’ve heard of other celebrities being there. Absolute twaddle, the lot of it.
At least the article calls him out on his bullshit at the end.

I would pay someone to create a "Hulk Hogan's fish tales" graphic novel that just gets more and more ridiculous with each issue, culminating with the Hulkster becoming a cosmic entity

What match did he wrestle at Wembley Stadium? I think he had a match in front of a couple thousand people in a smaller venue once.

And then he slammed that big stinky kid in front of 14,000,000 Hulkamaniacs that packed the Pontiac Silverdome Wembley Stadium

Leaving aside the racism and garbage views, he's a man who's been through, seen and done so much in his life, a man whose achievements in this form of entertainment will be remembered long after he's gone, he has no reason at all to lie or even to embellish what he's done, yet he does. Reality and honesty would be fascinating from Hulk Hogan, a just completely honest, non self serving glimpse into his life, but I fear we'll never get that and he'll go to his grave kayfabing like he's had the career of Virgil.

Hogan is always flexing, even if the flex is a big lie.

I read the rest of what he said and it's absolutely incredible, just a procession of bare-faced lies. The bollocks about Wembley aside, Simon Cowell had no involvement in any of this, and until the 2000s was still in Britain grinding out low-effort albums by such recording industry luminaries as Robson and Jerome and the Power Rangers, so Hogan didn't bring him to America.
What gets me is the way he's not just lying, but the stuff he's lying about: why would you lie about being persuaded by a purveyor of shit novelty music to cover a song by a notorious paedophile?

"So, I looked at Simon and I said, brother, you know what I think would be really great for all the Hulkamaniacs, brother? You should do, like a talent show brother. Listen to the regular average everyday Hulkamaniacs singing, and then, like let the other Hulkamaniacs vote on who is best, brother. And, dude, you can be like a heel when you judge them. You know, just really lay into them, dude. And brother, you know since I'm a real American, and I'm an idol to millions of Hulkamaniacs worldwide, I was thinking American Idol could be a good name for it, brother.
And dude, I swear to you, that's how Simon Cowell came up with the idea for American Idol."

The only way this makes sense is if Hulk legitimately doesn't know the internet exists and still thinks people have to put work into fact-checking.

What gets me is the way he's not just lying, but the stuff he's lying about: why would you lie about being persuaded by a purveyor of shit novelty music to cover a song by a notorious paedophile? In fairness Cowell was involved with the WWF as early as 1992 as he's listed as a producer on the Slam Jam single that was released that year as well as WrestleMania: The Album the year later. These were both released on Arista which is the same label Leader of the Gang was released on, also in '93. So, as much as the embellishments are clearly total bollocks, I do think that there's probably a nugget of truth in that Hogan and Cowell probably crossed paths in the early nineties.
