I like the idea of Punk coming back to challenge Roman, eating a spear in :15 and then getting shoved in a box and mailed back to Chicago like HHH and HBK did to the Spirit Squad back in the day.

Yup, and you also have people who want Punk to go to WWE for the sheer chaos. While I might find the thought of him crawling back to WWE funny as f***, I'd honestly prefer if the man got some help instead of going to another promotion with the mindframe he's in, even moreso when he still has a shit ton of animosity towards some of the people within the company. And for WWE to bring Punk back, that means heavy restriction being placed upon Punk. They're not going want a repeat of happened in AEW, and they're sure as shit aren't going to be nearly as lenient about it. This requires Punk to swallow his own ego and take what's coming to him as he doesn't have any leverage in negotiating his contract. I seriously doubt Punk is willing to compromise on that. Honestly I think a wrestling ring is the very worst place for CM Punk to be right now. Everything about his AEW misadventure just points to a man with a lot of mental health issues he needs to work out and returning to wrestling again right away is just going to make things worse. Seeing the whole thing unfold and the nonstop drama that followed afterwards. Man, watching someone take such a huge fall from grace and leaving so much on the table, that was sad to watch.

It really has been very hard to watch. Punk is one of my all-time favorite wrestlers and I had the highest hopes when he first showed up in AEW, hopes that initially seemed to be bearing out. Indeed, "Happy to be here" Punk is one of my favorite versions of him. But watching him come completely unglued like this has been just rough. All the good feelings I had about his debut are gone and now I just wish he'd stayed retired because dude is clearly not in a good place mentally and he tried bringing everyone else down with him. It's a huge black mark on his career and I don't know if he has it in him to ever make good on it.

Riddle and Punks threads were side by side. When will WWE finally fire this non stop car crash and will WWE finally sign this non stop car crash? Hah

As a wrestler? No, that window has closed.
As a manager for heels? That has promise, but he likely might not be interested in that unless he was a huge Heenan Family fan growing up.
As a color commentator? Maybe, but he’d need a leash.

The real question is does Ace Steel come with him to WWE?

The potential for BIG matches is enormous, more so than in AEW in my opinion. Punk vs Roman, Cody, Sami, Rollins, Lesnar, Logan Paul, Gunther..there’s a big ol’ list.
He might be a problem backstage but I don’t give a shit about that, if he delivers great TV (and he would) then bring me all of it.

People always say this without understanding that the problem is that Punk COULDNT keep it backstage. Trust me, you do not want him constantly taking potshots about Miz in every promo in a desperate attempt to start an angle that's never going to happen.

I was never a fan of his, but even I wanted "Happy to be here" Punk to be legit, because it would have been great to see the dude _NOT_ be miserable for once.

Yes - it's something that gets lost in all the dunking and wisecracks that watching the feel-good comeback of the decade just come off the tracks was ultimately just sad. Punk's early work in AEW were fantastic and worthy chapters in his 'best of' catalogue, but were then immediately undermined by 'the absolute worst of' for what seems like an age.

Some buzz about Seth saying he’s “the best in the world” during his promo last night. Inadvertent? Hint of something to come?

If it's "Real Worlds Champion" CM Punk turning up in WWE, then F*** NO, JUST F*** NO. Dude was the worst part of the show he was given and Danielson had to clean up his mess.

I’d imagine it would be a Punk character more like his WWE self, as he wouldn’t really have the power to do whatever he wants like in AEW.

And, of course, it was Nick Hausman’s question that HBK was responding to.
