On this day 31 years ago, "Batman: The Animated Series" debuted on Fox Kids. It would redefine superhero cartoons in its own way, leading to a whole universe that would last for years, and would introduce elements (Mr. Freeze's origin change) and characters (Harley Quinn and Rene Montoya) that would be influential enough to make their way back into the comics the series was based on.
That and having the voice of Batman that would go on until just a few months ago in Multiverses (RIP Kevin Conroy...and Arleen Sorkin while we're here).
So yeah, happy 31th TAS.
EDIT: 31 years after looking up. Post I saw messed things up.

Renee Montoya's kind of an interesting one because she was created for BtAS but debuted in the comics before it premiered. Animation lead time can be pretty crazy like that I guess.
Lock-Up, Roxy Rocket, and Baby Doll also made their way to the comics. Always kind of thought Calendar Girl should've too, they came up with a really good hook for her that's pretty distinct from Calendar Man but it was just the one story.

I was pretty sure it was 92. Cause by then I rarely saw anything on TV for 4 years.

For anyone interested, Montoya is the current comissioner of the GCPD.
She and Batman do not see eye to eye, par for the course with Gordon replacements.

I hated this show when it debuted.
The first time I caught it, it was on a Saturday at 9 am.
Normally, my favorite cartoon was on at this time...aka The Real Ghostbusters.
But without any notice or provocation, 9 am came and Batman came on. For some reason, I believed that they goofed up and were going to 'correct' this, so I watched.
It was the episode with Catwoman, which I didn't like because I had a crush on the Michelle Pfeiffer version, and much like Peter Pan and the Pirates, if it didn't 'look' exactly the same as what I was familiar with, then it was inferior.
That said, I grew to enjoy the show although it was stupid at times. I thought the Clock King somehow matching Batman's physical prowess to a certain extent was stupid. The Hugo Strange episode ending was more convoluted than it deserved to be. And I always hated how in the Mudslide episode where Batman was CLEARLY IN THE WRONG when he pulled the plug on Clayface, which almost got Batman killed and evidently did kill Clayface. Still annoys me to this day.
