Now that GUNTHER has broken the Intercontinental title reign. If we compare these two lengthy and legendary title reigns, from what I've read from around the forums, here are the pros and cons against each reign.
Roman Reigns:
Pros:
Puts on banger main events, mostly delivers each and every time
Big match feel, no one else on the roster does it better than him
Adding more and more days to the reign just continues to make it more historic and worth it
Cons:
Destroys and crushes every single challenger since 2020.
Everyone coming out of a feud, isn't elevated and thus look weaker after feuding with him
Kills momentum of hot and over superstars: Cody, Sami, Jey, Drew, Big E, the list is huge
He is the only person that comes out looking good each and every time
He always cheats, except against loser Riddle, every other time it's help
It's the same storyline over and over again, there is no longer any drama as the bloodline are all alternating parts
He didn't do enough work to "earn" the length of this title reign as he barely is on TV or defended the title
He doesn't need to hold the title this long, it's damaging the rest of the roster
He is too dominate they have to make a "consolation" world title
He doesn't need to hold BOTH the Universal and WWE titles
GUNTHER:
Pros:
Has restored prestige to a title that was damaged for years and some would say decades
Has banger after banger after banger defending the title
Opponents tend to come out looking better, because they are viewed as a worthy challenger who JUST came up short
He elevates his opponents even if he's defeating them
Elevated Imperium
Beats his opponents clean
Has the image as a "fighting" champion
Cons:
Bottlenecks the mid-card talent, as other guys could use the IC title rub as champion.
Comes off a little too OP
The longer he holds this title, the longer it will take to elevate him
Killed the momentum of hot and over superstars such as Sheamus and Drew
The fear that by being this OP, he will more likely forfeit the IC title once winning a world title, instead of dropping the IC title first
So if you compare the two side by side, each has it's pros and cons.
