Inspired by "New" factions and tag teams in wrestling...often having a TV show be "The New" something leads to failure. But other times...??
I'll start with "The All-New Superfriends Hour." Capitalized on the popularity of reruns of the first season, but improved, well, EVERYTHING. No more hour-long stories that had the tendency to drag, no more Wendy and Marvin, and no more goofy looking "villains." You got teen sidekicks with super powers instead, some nifty team up minor stories, and guest superheroes every week. From there we got other memorable seasons of course (Legion of Doom, Darkseid, etc.)

The New Monkees did not work at all. Awful show, and a mediocre album.

"The New Price Is Right" was such a big hit that most people know that as the ONLY Price is Right.
The original Price is Right was a game show in the 50's hosted by Bill Cullen. And the game was ONLY bidding on prizes, with whoever was closest without going over winning the round. It also had showcases for home viewers to submit their own bids via postcard. And unlike the newer show, it also used returning champions.
What was originally The New Price is Right debuted in 1972 as hosted by Bob Barker. It turned the original format into what we know as Contestant's Row and the One Bid and originated stuff like the individual pricing games, the Showcase Showdown, and finally the Showcase.
TNPIR was such a success that they dropped the "New" from the title of the show by 1974 and the rest is history. There was also a weekly syndicated version of the show aired at night and originally hosted by Dennis James (until Barker also hosted that one starting in 1977, but that ended its run by 1980.

“The New Adventures of Superman” in the 90s was arguably more successful then George Reeves original “Adventures of Superman”

I know it's not "The New", but in spirit it's just about the same thing... Star Trek: The Next Generation was great

I'm never going to say that the original was better, but they would routinely have showcases that included HOUSES, which is just nuts. By comparison, it makes the prizes on the "New" version miniscule.

Would New Girl count? I mean, there wasn't an "Old Girl," but it was a successful show with "new" in the title.

By comparison, it makes the prizes on the "New" version miniscule. Yeah it does make the prizes on the “new” one minuscule. But the “new” one has been on the air for 51 years. Funnily enough there was another “new” version hosted by Doug Davidson that was syndicated and it aired during the 1994-1995 season and it failed (one of the reasons was the OJ Simpson trial) and it had a very modern look. Bob Barker and Rod Roddy made note of it. m.youtube.com/watch?v=QkLBxBw-9ec&pp=ygU0Qm9iIGJhcmtlciBhbmQgcm9kIHRhbGsgc2JvdXQgdGhlIG5ldyBwcmljZSBpcyByaWdodA%3D%3DAlso the “new” version would eventually take some of the elements from the syndicated version like getting a more modern look, getting younger contestants (at the time, Bob’s version had older contestants) and eventually a younger host. The 1994 version was Jonathan Goodson’s idea and he thought that Bob and Rod were at the end of the careers (he was morn than a little off on that estimation. Rod sadly passed away while being the announcer in 2003 and Bob retired in 2007.)

Also the models on the 1994 version were younger. From the 1994 TPIR Wiki:
“The models were much younger than those from its daytime counterpart. Of the three, Lisa Stahl was the oldest at the age of 29. By comparison, all three regular daytime Price models at the time were at least 40-50 years old; Kathleen Bradley was 43, Holly Hallstrom was 42 while the longest-tenured Janice Pennington was 52.”

The New Adventures of Old Christine was reasonably successful, but importantly, broke "the Seinfeld Curse" for Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

A year after just being The National Network (We Got Pop, when the WWF arrived) they went with The NEW Tnn. This clearly didn't catch on much either since 2 years later they would rename it Spike TV.
