A long time ago, my brother found a stray trapped under a dumpster. He took her home and made her his own-and then discovered she was pregnant. The trendiest of her litter went home with me. Ever since she has been my Baby, my beloved. The friendship and love she has given me for all these years has seen me through some tough times. That’s why I’ve made this painful decision; she is of a very advanced age for a cat and has been diagnosed with slowly progressing kidney failure. She shows no signs of pain or struggle, but I do not want it to get to that point. I prefer her last moments be comfortable and without fear. A mobile vet will come to my home his Thursday. The next 48 hours will be so hard for me, but I intend to spend them lavishing her with all the love I have to give. This is the first time I’ve ever had to make this decision myself and imma wreck for it.

We had to put one of our cats down two months ago. it was one week before her 13th birthday. Wife was upset as even though she has cats before this was the first time one had to be put down. our 5 year old was pretty down as well as he's know her all his life so it was strange for him. We still have two, one being the sister of the one put down but i just taking used to not having three round the house. But it was the right thing, she wasnt getting better and was just going to get worse and worse quickly and be in alot of pain til the end. Keeping her going just wouldnt be right.

Putting a beloved pet down, is one of the hardest things to do, while it is unselfish, as you've given your cat a life of love. I felt the same way, when my family had to put one of our dogs down.
You are doing the right thing, and I truly hope for the best for you.

*hugs you*
All my condolences for your loss, man. Recently lost one of my dogs nearly a month ago, she was very elderly but it's still heart-destroying.
Pets are very much family, it sounds like you gave that cat a happy life.

I remember my first Christmas with Baby very fondly. I still lived with my father in the old house. That year my father decided to play it cheap by getting a miniature tree, the type you can put on a coffee table. I warned him it wasn’t a good idea with a kitten in the house, but what do I know?
By Christmas Day thst tree was ready to be put out of its misery. Baby had yanked it over so many times it was flattened on one side, I think Charlie Brown’s tree looked less depressing.
On top of that, I am not sure what it says about my childhood, but it brought back many a Christmas memory to hear my father randomly shout “Git outta there you idiot!!!”

Im sorry to hear that, having to do that is so hard but untlimatly its the kindest thing you can do. Iv had to lose so many pets because of illness and even today i cry despite losing them many years ago to my losing my tibetan terrior pnly 2 years back. Animals are the best and it sucks we dont have them long enough. Best wishes and just very sorry, the great memories will always live on no question.

Today is my floating day off for the week. It’s all about her. I already had some cereal and she drank the leftover milk, a favorite treat from When she was a kitten. I took her in my arms outside so she could feel the sun. I keep listening to Willie Nelson’s Always on my Mind and crying my eyes out.

It ended at 11:30 today. I’m actually doing much better now that it’s over, but I have no doubt there are tears to be shed yet.

I know the pain well, and I hope you carry the memories fondly in your heart and know you gave them the best life possible. You're in my thoughts, and I'll give my cat an extra pet for you tonight.

Thanks. I’m getting better now that it’s over and done with. But I miss her like crazy, place doesn’t feel the same without her. I’ve cried looking at her favorite spots more than once, she’s supposed to be curled up there, snoozing away.
