I just came home a couple of hours ago. I got a call from my friend's mother. My friend had a heart attack this afternoon and passed away.
He's been in and out of the hospital for the past few years with various things. But I still didn't see this coming.
We've been friends since meeting in Boy Scouts in 1991. We've went to high-school together. We've watched tons of WWE and Patriots games. We've talked to each other practically every day but right now I can't recall our last conversation.
I drove to his house to check on his fiance but no one was home.
Right now I'm bouncing between calm and breaking down. So many things I've taken as routine over the years is going to be different now.
Sorry for rambling I'm just dealing with a lot right now.

I'm sorry for your loss, stranger. I had a very similar experience with a dear friend who had heart issues his entire life. I hope you can be there for your friend's family and loved ones, and that people are there for you.

Just providing an update, the funeral was today.
I'm still so-so. I'm fine most of the time but occasionally I'll have a thought and a wave of sadness hits me. Watching Smackdown and the Patriots last week I'd find myself reaching for my phone to text my friend and suddenly realize "oh yeah...".
I've talked with his mother and fiance this week. They're with each other so that's good. I've offered my help with anything they need and will stay in touch.
Thank you for all your condolences.

My friend had her fiance die so I observed this on the outside but grief has no time table and no one way to be expressed. It's OK to express it anyway you feel like you want to

It's OK to express it anyway you feel like you want to Yeah, I lost my dad a couple months ago and it's true that grief has no time table. You might not eat much or eat too much, but that's okay. You might not sleep much, but that's okay. There's no time table and you're never prepared for the grief that comes with death. You'll think you're good after awhile, but then out of nowhere get hit with a wave of emotions. And it's always the small stuff that makes it hit the most.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?
