I don't recall even renting this, so I obviously never returned it. But the funny thing is, I cancelled Netflix months ago, and they didn't ask for it back or anything, so I guess it's mine.  |

Reminds me of a friend who had Osmosis Jones from Netflix for a year and then returned it without watching it. She essentially paid $130 to *not* watch Osmosis Jones whereas most people didn't watch it for free.

Netflix is discontinuing their DVD by Mail service at the end of the week. While they don't outright say it, they've been sending me E mails that can more or less be read as "you don't have to return these DVD's if you don't want to, it's just more work for us".

Knew of people that would work the Netflix system.
They figured out how many DVDs could get "lost in the mail" a year. and Then rent harder to find stuff and claim they mailed it back. Last few people I knew that still had disc by mail said the selection was getting bare.

I rented a movie once, returned it the next day and got a call that I hadn't returned it. They then checked and it had been shelved but not recorded as being returned. Despite that they didn't eaive the late charges. Never rented there again, never paid the charges.

Seriously though, what crack were they on when they came up with this stuff? In all seriousness: the whole story of Serpentor, then Cobra La, started as a kernel of an idea about the secret origins of Cobra. That Cobra Commander had usurped Cobra from its original leader, who swoops back in to reclaim the throne, and that GIJoe would end up having to actually help CC because while he is a threat to the world his sheer ineptitude makes him preferable by default. From there, a lot of interference by Hasbro mutated the idea well beyond what was originally intended, and the writers eventually just said eff it and began throwing shit against the wall to see what would stick. |
