As of last week, "cromulent" is a recognised word in the dictionary.

It continues the grand tradition of writers just making up words when they need to that later become official parts of English. It dates back as far as Shakespeare at least.

Torn between thinking it's the dictionary trying to stay relevant in a stupid way, and the knowledge that language is ever evolving, and as stupid a term as something like "on fleek" might be, it's common use means it does warrant inclusion...

I mean... the absolute core of language is you make a sound and somebody else knows what it means. This is a perfectly cromulent addition to the dictionary.

I want another Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny Devito film. They worked together well in Twins (we'll be like most of the general public and forget Junior), and I'd like to see another film with them before its too late.

I was walking to the store earlier and this doggy started to follow me, whenever I stopped walking to look back, he'd stop walking. I started walking, he'd start walking again. Finally I stopped and turned to him, and he trotted right up to me and after I let him sniff my hands, petted him for a bit. He had a collar but no leash, no one was coming to get him, and I was kind of concerned, but when I tried to check his collar for a tag or something, he jumped back and dashed off back down the sidewalk away from me. I didn't see him when I walked back down that road later on, hopefully he got home ok

So for those not already aware
Dictionaries are a catalogue, not a dictator
Dictionaries tell you 'these are the words people use and what they can mean.' They do not tell you 'this is the correct definition of this word.'
Language definition is decided by popular usage and adoption, not by the dudes who write these books.
Except in France.
French is actually decided by a committee, what words are and are not correct, what they mean, etc.
Also, I'm pretty sure 'd'oh' has been in the OED for years?

For whatever reason I never thought Idris Elba could be a perfect James Bond. As big a fan I am of his work, I always saw him more as a 007 villain. Same deal with Daniel Radcliffe, I don’t see him in the tuxedo at all (but I think he could be a top tier bad guy) and Radcliffe himself says it’s not gonna happen. I’d say Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston would be my #1, 2 and 3 choices. Daniel Kaluuya wouldn’t be a bad choice either, I know he says he’d rather play the Bond villain but he could bring a cool Dalton-esque energy to the role.

Speaking of Bond, I was thinking the other day that Nathan Fillion would be a great Q.

Ever met a celebrity as a kid then once you are grown see another role of theirs and be kind of shocked?
So last week bought Willie Dynamite on DVD. Fun 70s flick about a pimp, played by Roscoe Gorman. Watching it I kept thinking he looked a tiny bit like Gordon from Sesame Street.
Looked it up same actor. Now when I was a kid and was 7 or 8 went to a local mall cause Maria and Gordon from Sesame Street were gonna be there.
Pretty sure somewhere's there is a picture of me with Maria and WILLIE DYNAMITE. Gonna dig for it over the weekend.

So I just watched the 2023 Haunted Mansion movie. Marilu Henner has a barely there, only one step above cameo, blink and you'll miss it part as a tourist on a New Orleans haunted house tour. At one point, between Taxi and Evening Shade, she was arguably one of the biggest actresses on television. Is this really all she can get for work nowadays?

I thought I heard she had some health issues after Evening Shade and cut back on acting work. Odd Evening Shade hasn't been rerun on TV in a long time. I don't think it is on any streaming. And never saw dvds of it. Taxi AFAIK only got season 1 on DVD and when it is streaming it is never every episode. Each season has a few missing.
