Jim Johnston could write good first verses but some of his second verses left a lot to be desired.
Adding lyrics has ruined some themes.
Freebird from Legends of Wrestlemania is better than Badstreet USA.

"My Time" is borderline ear rape and thank Christ Triple H switched to "The Game". And don't even get me started on the juvenile lyrics. The DX band just kinda sucks all around.

Sheamus's "Lobster Head/Too Many Limes" theme is an all-time great.

"My Time" is better than "The Game". I say this as someone who loves both themes. Also prefer "619" to "Booyaka 619". I actually feel that Trips' best theme was "Higher Brain Pattern." I know it was the predecessor to "My Time," but it just seems better to me.

"I'm All About Cool" is the greatest theme of all time. I'm going back through my Peacock/WWE Network rips and fixing the aspect ratio/putting cut content back in and I'm currently up to 2007 and I can't tell you how much I smile when I get to the Deuce and Domino segments because of their theme. It's so good. What's wrong with them? Everything is shown in the original aspect ratio.

Undertaker's Survivor Series 1990 theme (before they added the bells) is the best one. Demolition's early 1987 theme is as good as the version with lyrics we all love, and I wish someone would find a clean copy. The Demolition "horror movie" theme wasn't that bad. There's early '90s WCW "Basketball Highlights #2" themes that I think are some of the best ever. Adam Bomb's heel music is a banger. The redo of Bret Hart's music from 1994 is inferior to the original Hart Foundation music. 1998 Rock theme > the one we all know by now. (especially the version that debuted at SummerSlam '98 and was on WWE: The Music Vol 3) Echo the love for the "really evil" instrumental My Time from 2000 (after the reveal of Triple H being behind Rikiski) Kurt Angle's WWECW edit is also a good song. I don't know of Taker's themes after American Bad A era because I stopped watching but all his early themes seemed to fit so well. As the character changed or evolved to be a bigger part of WWF, the themes changed and they all fit. The lyrics Demolition theme is the most famous. But all there themes were good for who they were at the time. The third theme era of Demolition was so sad. But the theme itself is great. The first theme with no lyrics fit them really well, before they were coming into their own as such a cool and bad a team. A similar version, I guess updated for the times, was used for the Acolytes. I think Adam Bomb's second theme is really cool. It was very similar to Lex Luger's theme in 1991 WCW.

I wish Taker used Ain't No Grave for longer. It was a really good fit.

Wade Barrett has never at any point had a bad theme in WWE. Now that is controversial, if just because of that Just Don't Care Anymore theme. Should have never dropped the End of Days theme, though.

Freebird from Legends of Wrestlemania is better than Badstreet USA. The Ass Man theme having such elaborate lyrics is just astounding to me still. Like Jim Johnston treating it like his magnum opus, for some reason, but I cannot argue with the results.

He doesn’t understand it on any level. I think he just likes the word ass. I’ve seen The Rock v. Mr. Ass in a Kiss my Ass Match the second most times of anyone on Earth after him.

I've gone through 2001-2006 and am finishing 2007 probably by the end of next month. It was mainly to fix the themes in my personal little library, but when I figured out how to crop the videos I jumped on it. My goal is to have one of those little raspberry pi's running on an old CRT with these old shows. this take also isn't hot, but none of the def rebel songs are good imo.

BTW, the rap version of "My Time" wasn't bad. It just didn't fit Triple H. My hot take: Ric Flair's 1992 WWF theme was his best one.

Cody Rhodes's best theme was the one he used when he wore the mask.
The Brawling Brutes theme is better than any singles theme Sheamus has used.
Mark Henry's "Echo" theme that he used just before Somebody's Gonna Get It" is just as epic as the latter.
The Rock's best theme was the one he used for a few weeks in August and September 1999 just before he changed to his more well known one at Unforgiven 1999.

I'm not sure why they didn't use the theme to 2001 (probably copyright), but that theme he had in 1992 was even better.

-I generally prefer in-house or production themes to licensed ones.
-Not every theme needs lyrics.
-It didn't bother me that CFO$-made themes were short.
-NXT Black-and-Gold's "Roar of the Crowd" theme probably got me more hyped for a show than any other show theme.

The best Undertaker theme was his 2nd one used in 1991-early 1994 and every version since added unneeded stuff imo. His 98 theme would be 2nd form The Music Vol 3. His 91-94 theme was mysterious, like this guy with creepy pipe organ music is out of left field and we're not really sure what he's all about. His next theme and the one that he used for most of his career just completely dropped any illusion and revealed that he was all theatrics.
